GoogleI can’t say that Solana pleasantly surprised me – because it actually exceeded every single one of my expectations. From the very first moment, the staff made me feel truly welcome. They are exceptionally friendly, genuinely caring, attentive to every detail, and always ready to listen to your wishes or adjust anything to your preferences. Their warmth and kindness really stand out. The accommodation itself is simply beautiful. The rooms are stylish yet very comfortable, the whole property is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by nature, and the cleanliness is absolutely impeccable – it feels spotless at all times. The food deserves a special mention. Not only does every dish look like it came straight from a magazine, but the taste is even better. Everything is thoughtfully prepared, healthy, delicious ( vegetarian), and you can clearly see and feel the love and attention that goes into every meal. The wellness & therapy program is fantastic. Whether you want total relaxation or something more active – you won’t be bored for a second. Every single day felt nourishing for both body and soul. A huge thank you to every single member of the Solana team – you created something truly special. If you’re looking for a place where you can recharge mentally, emotionally, and physically, and leave feeling truly renewed and inspired – Solana is the perfect choice. Highly, highly recommended!
So, I came to a private retreat, organised by an individual not by the team at Solana. Positives - 1) A really lovely setting, I mean REALLY lovely. 2) Staff that couldn't do enough for you. 3) Massages were AMAZING, 4) Fabulous, varied breakfasts. 5) Lovely, well equipped Yoga studio in a beautiful setting Things that need tweaking (in Solana's control): 1) The food was delicious but not enough choice if you are there for lunch and dinner like I was most of the week. The menu was the same all week and for me, there wasn't enough variety ie no rice dishes, no noodles, all salads were the same 'type and consistency' (others commented on this too) We had an incredible welcome meal on our first night and it would have been great to have had this again and more of that type of food. The soups were delicious. 2) The lovely fabulous staff were quite noisy when we were doing Yoga and trying to relax into meditation etc. They were chatting as they made dinner, and in the reception area (which is very close to the open Yoga studio). I think when Yoga sessions are taking place it should be a silent/very quiet zone in the staff area until its finished. I'm new to Yoga and trying to find my way, I found it disturbing on many occasions which was sad for me. But they are lovely staff and people. 3) I was disappointed that I couldn't open the doors fully, almost not at all, to my balcony in my bedroom, which was incredible but they only opened a very small amount - they were bi folds and it would have been fabulous to have opened then up fully as they have been designed to. My room was Love. 4) There were 12 of us there and there are not enough loungers by the pool for people, I think only 4 (possibly 5?) I also felt that there should better Umbrellas for sun protection, than the very small traditional ones, taped to a stool. 5) There was building work going on directly under my bedroom/balcony (Solana's buildings) and I was upset that there were men on the roof looking directly in and also the noise was terrible! But, it was sorted after 2 days, I mentioned it via Whatsapp to reception and then the next day to the owner who apologised and she promised that it would stop whilst we were there, which it did by the end of the second day. So, that was good but it took a couple of days. 6) The waterfall outside my room and where the retreat over looks was full of rubbish and it broke my heart to see it, it really did - I didn't post any pictures of the view from my balcony on my Social Media because I was embarrassed by the rubbish and upset at what that would look like for Solana. I don't know who the waterfall belongs to but for me, as all my guests look out onto it, I would clean it regardless of whose responsibility it actually is. Such a place of beauty to have trash all around the waterfall was so sad. Things to be aware of before you book: 1) It is VERY noisy at night with creatures! Ha! I had no idea it could be so loud with massive frogs and lizards, it was very over overwhelming for me, luckily I had ear plugs with me but it kept me awake most nights. Nothing can be done about it but its very loud, ear plugs are a must if you a light sleeper. The bathroom and shower is outside which again, was interesting going out there at night with all the noise! 3) It seems obvious that people on a retreat would have no mobility issues, but it is quite steep, with lots of small stepping stone type of steps, I really had to watch my footing especially in the dark. I have a painful knee, so I had to go very gingerly, so I would say double check if you have any sort of mobility issues. 2) I would double check about the possibility of building work happening, the resort is expanding. OVER ALL - it was lovely, a very special place but I felt it needed a few things improved, as I've written, for me to give it a 5 star rating, all of which could be easily addressed which would have made it a 5 star experience for me.
Lovely Stay at Solana Bali We had a great stay at Solana Bali. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The surroundings were calm and perfect for unwinding. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our stay. We felt truly welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway in Bali
Solana was absolutely incredible! I stayed here for a women’s retreat and everything exceeded my expectations. The food was fresh, healthy, and honestly some of the best meals I’ve had in Bali. The staff were warm, attentive, and made the entire experience feel effortless plus the massages were AMAZING. The property itself is peaceful, beautifully designed, and has all the amenities you’d want for a relaxing wellness stay including a sauna and cold plunge. I left feeling extremely restored and grounded. I highly recommend for anyone looking for an upscale retreat in Ubud.
The place is amazing. Located on top of a cliff with the view of the river. Fully equipped with yoga, sauna, icebath, swimming pool, altar, great food and amazing service. I did the fasting retreat of 7 days and felt supported by the staff and specifically Komang who was very responsive with any questions i had. The owner Anshu was lovely and the naturologist gave me good ideas the continue my fasting. Every hour i was brought different types of juices and herbs to detox and the staff was very attentive. Definitely a place i will repeat every year if i can.
