I began classes around 15 years ago, and then took a break. I've been back for 3 years and my regret is that I took a break. Classes are led by skilled, ethical and approachable instructors, in particular Gita. There is flexibility to adapt the practice for your own needs and abilities. They're small-ish groups and held in location around east and north of Melbourne, or online - which means it's easy to fit in a few sessions each week. Recommended.
I have been a long time student at Yoga in Daily Life at Richmond. Gita is an amazingly intuitive teacher who seems to know exactly what her students need. I recently attended the Yoga in Daily Life Easter Yoga Retreat at Hepburn Springs. Such a wonderfully inclusive experience. A full yoga program and delicious vegetarian meals, lots of time for self care (hammam and massage) and fireside chats with fellow retreaters, all on site in a fabulous venue at Continental House. Highly recommend. I'm going again next year for sure :)
I started yoga eight years ago with Gita and Gopal and have rarely missed a weeks yoga since. Their guidance is clear, safe and varied which allows one to stretch to ones limits or to back off if necessary. I have been blessed with good health but even that has improved with yoga. The transition to zoom classes during the last 12 months was seemless and very much valued. It has always felt an authentic experience. It is good for golf too.
I was a student of Swami Gopal for over a year. I've gone to a lot of yoga schools, but nothing compares to Yoga in Daily Life. What I really like about YIDL is the detailed guidance, openness to experiment during class and the no fuss approach (a lot of yoga studios are too focused on the looks of yoga rather than the core principles). Gopal is a really great and patient teacher. He'll adapt his class to suit the needs of his students and provides lots of variations to suit your skill / state during that class. Whilst he's patient, he also knows how to push you to develop - I went from a beginner to doing head stands in a matter of months. I've since moved countries and I no longer go here, but I do miss it sorely. If you're lucky to be close to the Richmond studio, I recommend you go check it out.
