The YogAbode

At The YogAbode we seek to help practitioners to train their body, mind and spirit so that they can feel free to live and enjoy their lives in comfort.

About

Our studio is continuing to grow and to bloom. We opened our doors in December 2010 and have continued to expand our community of students and teachers.

Our philosophy at the YogAbode is simple: We seek to help you to live in your body, to adapt and shape the yoga to fit you, to nourish and replenish you in the practice so that your life feels happier, peaceful and fulfilled.

Our principal teacher is Aletia Artemis - she is a Senior (Level 3) Teacher registered with Yoga Australia.  Her mother was born and raised in northern India and Aletia has a great depth of understanding of the histories of yoga and yogic philosophies.  She still has relatives living in India and feels a wonderful connection with the practice of Yoga.  Aletia has trained for 18 years and her yoga journey has spanned continents and styles.  She began training in Hatha Yoga in Perth, WA, and then later spent time working with Iyengar techniques. Whilst studying with Linda Healy, Aletia met Monica Gaucci and began to learn Astanga Yoga.  She then moved east to Victoria and continued to study Iyengar and Astanga at seperate studios.  In 1995 she moved to Asia and spent time studying Tai Chi, Thai Massage and Yoga.  In 1997 she went to India and studied Iyengar in Rishikesh for 4 months.  In 1998 she returned to India and went to study Astanga with Guruji in Mysore. She studied at the old shala under the watch of Guruji for 4 months.

Returning to Australia in 1999, Aletia began teaching for Alex Armstrong and The Yoga Centre Nedlands.  She then trained with FINY to establish her teaching practice and has gained a certification from The Yoga Space for completing their Teacher Training.  She has also studied Yin Yoga with Victor Chng and has Yin Teaching Certification.
