GoogleHaven't slept that well in a long time. Wake up with the birds, a phenomenal view of the san Isidro valley, a top notch restaurant, wonderful hospitality, and the best sunset views and incredible cloud displays in the sky to go along with it. This place is like the garden of Eden. 3.5 hour drive or fly straight to the Kinkara airstrip from SJO. Contact kinkara to get ahold of some of the regular pilots.
Really is an incredible place. The staff took incredible care of our group of 40 with amazing service, care, and attention to detail. The food was great as well. Healthy, local, chef-prepared meals that blew everyone away. Very happy we had our group there. Hiked to local waterfall, cold plunged on-site, and partook in a sweat lodge… powerful experiences. Would return.
I just had to write a review for this place because it was absolutely above and beyond expectations. The tent, bathrooms and facilities are spotlessly clean and incredibly well maintained. In our month in Costa Rica this was the best shower I had! (And we stayed in some very high end hotels). The food was unique and fresh and beautifully presented. But most of all the people, Kevin, Brandon and especially Hardy, with whom we spent the most time, went way out of their way. They are beautiful, compassionate, kind people who do everything they can to make the experience wonderful. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. THANK YOU kinkara for a memorable and unique experience! My family and I won’t soon forget it.
Kinkara Luxury Retreat at Santa Elena in southern Costa Rica, is an "eco-camp" offering glamorous camping or "glamping". In the early morning guests wake up to the call of birds. Then it's time for yoga, meditation, and other "wellness activities".
Truly excellent and ABUNDANT meals. Conceptually this place is quite beautiful. It is magical to have a nighttime view of San Isidro while being perched upon a hill with beautiful green plants and pure silence. A true conceptual mix of city/nature. Well designed. The downsides are: you really must have a car if you want to go anywhere. Though not far from town, it is too far to walk anywhere. And also, your only option (at least now; maybe they will build different types of lodging options) is a simple but nice yurt tent with shared bathrooms. Privacy is a bit lacking overall. But overall it is a well designed place. I think it would be best as a retreat center where groups that came together rented it out
