Anam Cara Healing Retreats

My experience with Anam Cara was one I will cherish forever. I went there with a heaviness and sadness I could not explain. I now feel lifted and empowered to be a better version of who I am. It’s definitely something you have to be called to and go with an open heart and mind. The Maestros and Neils were amazing and are passionate at what they do. So present and unbelievably caring for the work. Also, the universe also selected the best people for me to do this experience with. Made a new family. ❤️

I would recommend Anam Cara and solely Anam Cara to anyone looking for a true homecoming back to themselves. This medicine is profound and the way that Neils & Francesca work with the Shipibo maestros like family makes ALL the difference. I cannot imagine being in this retreat without the deep reverence for the medicine, and honor and friendship with the maestros — which radiates from the center of Anam Cara’s mission. In a world where the soul, consciousness and purpose of plant medicine can get forgotten, they hold true integrity and love at the heart of their work. The family I made at this retreat with the other retreat participants was unmatched. I am in awe of the power of community, the power of intentionally facilitated healing containers, the power of this medicine, the power of true honor, reverence, prayer and oneness with the land. I had been searching for the right aya retreat for almost two years, not just any retreat, but "the one" that felt aligned, safe, intentional, and grounded. And that is exactly what I experienced with Anam Cara Retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica in early November this year. The setting itself in the jungle was extraordinary. It was this raw, living environment that made the experience feel honest and rooted. But what impressed me most was how well-structured and balanced the entire programmer was. Francesca and Neils (❤️you guys) had thought of every little detail. The aya ceremonies were central, but they weren’t isolated experiences. Every part of the daily schedule felt thoughtfully designed to support the process. From the morning yoga with Juan 🥰, to deeply nourishing bodywork, intense somatic movement practices and integration circles, to hiking and sunset viewing, to singing with Jordan, all this created a holistic pathway that supported every layer of my inner transformation. I left with a profound gratitude for the facilitators, the Shipibo maestros, for the thoughtful structure of the programme, for the land, and for the transformation that moved through me. Anam Cara has forever changed me. After serving honorably in the Army, I lost my true identity. Upon getting out I felt totally alone and lost. I felt as though I gave up, quit, let my brothers in arms down and a total failure. I am a quiet, tired, warrior who is very observant. I witnessed love in a way I never imagined possible, especially from strangers. I felt honored to regain my power, peace, and love of self along side of this beautiful team. For 22 years I have suffered from chronic headaches and migraines. Virtually everyday. I felt totally alone in this battle, a true silent killer. The Maestros heard my cries and were sent to me in answer to countless prayers. Maestro spent a lot of time working on my head and pulling the damage from my soul. For the first time in 22 years someone fully understood my pain. I was very emotional witnessing pure love in the form of selfless service being given to me from a stranger. My headaches have disappeared and after one week I remain headache free. I will keep this updated with my progress but 1 week (now 3 weeks) is nothing short of a miracle for me. The maestros and the medicine are so intelligent and skilled at finding what needs to be released and freeing you into more of your beautiful self. It is such an honor to be in a space held with such integrity and wisdom. Receiving my personal icaros was a moment I will always cherish. Over the course of a week Neils and Francesca guided me thru powerful workshops that transformed parts of myself I could not see before. I formed an intimate family with all the beautiful people in the retreats and made lifelong friendships. The center itself, nestled in the jungle overlooking Nosara, is breathtaking providing epic views of lush jungle and ocean, gorgeous maloka, saltwater pool, and the most nourishing fresh food you will ever bite into prepared with love and intention. I feel so blessed to know these guardian facilitators and to have this transformational experience of healing in this sacred container.
