Himalayan Yoga Association (also known as Himalayan Yoga Ashram) is one of India's most respected yoga schools, based in Gulab Nagar, Tapovan — the spiritual heart of Rishikesh. The school is internationally accredited by Yoga Alliance USA, Yoga Alliance UK and Yoga Alliance International, and has trained students from over 80 countries.
Their comprehensive curriculum spans 100-hour, 200-hour, 300-hour and 500-hour teacher training programs, with a strong emphasis on traditional Ashtanga, Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. Philosophy sessions draw on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, while anatomy and physiology modules ensure graduates are well-prepared to teach safely and effectively.
The ashram campus in Tapovan offers comfortable shared and private accommodation, nourishing sattvic meals prepared fresh daily, and a genuinely international student community. Morning and evening Pranayama sessions on the rooftop, river swims in the Ganges, and excursions to sacred sites in the Himalayan foothills are part of the immersive experience.
Monthly residential intakes run from October through May, with the most popular programs running during the cooler winter and spring season.
