Koh Phangan

Nestled on the tropical island of Koh Pha Ngan in Surat Thani province, Thailand, Moksha Passionate Yoga Education is a yoga school built around the belief that authentic practice is ultimately an act of self-remembrance. Surrounded by jungle, waterfalls, and beaches, the school operates from its Sunset Hill location, offering students up to 21 days of immersive residential study in an environment that actively supports stillness, reflection, and personal growth.
What distinguishes Moksha from many yoga schools is its emphasis on transformation over certification. While the school does offer structured yoga education grounded in yogic philosophy and supported by the science of movement, the experience is designed to address the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Students are guided through breathwork, movement, and stillness practices that encourage emotional healing, spiritual depth, and a clearer sense of purpose. The curriculum is suited both to those training to become teachers and to practitioners who simply want to deepen their relationship with yoga, making the school accessible to a wide range of people at different stages of their practice.
The school was founded by Mika and Warren, teachers with over a decade of experience at retreats and schools across the region. Their approach is described by students as nurturing and highly skilled, with a consistent emphasis on creating safe, inclusive spaces for personal change. Testimonials from graduates highlight the quality of the teaching as well as the genuine sense of community that develops during training — something the school actively cultivates beyond the duration of any single course. Moksha's ongoing community model means students remain connected and supported long after their residency ends, which sets it apart from programmes that conclude at certification.
Daily life during residency includes access to the natural surroundings of Koh Pha Ngan, alongside vegetarian and vegan meals prepared by local cooks using local ingredients. Extracurricular activities and opportunities to connect with nature are woven into the experience. For those drawn to conscious living and looking for an education that goes beyond the physical postures, Moksha Passionate Yoga Education offers a grounded, heart-centred environment in one of Southeast Asia's most naturally beautiful settings.
I participated in a two-week foundational yoga course, and it was an incredibly nourishing and restorative experience for my body, soul, and mind. The healthy routine that accompanied me throughout the program was, without a doubt, one of the best aspects of this course. The beautifully located resort, surrounded by lush greenery with a panoramic ocean view from the sunset side, was a true balm for the nervous system—just slightly apart from the island’s chaos yet still at the heart of the action. The food we were served was nourishing and balancing, helping to maintain harmony within the body. The practice and lessons were well-structured, with knowledge being delivered clearly and practically, ensuring that it could be easily applied. The yoga classes brought so much joy to my body—even as a beginner, when I faced challenges, the support of the incredible group and teachers kept me going. Not once did I think of giving up! Quite the opposite—during the course, I even started to feel that I could lead a class myself, even though I had initially signed up purely for personal practice, to deepen my knowledge of yoga and the proper execution of basic asanas. This was an inspiring and deeply transformative journey, allowing me to connect with myself on a new level. I’m so grateful to have met Mika and Waren—an amazing duo that perfectly complements each other on different levels, showing how yoga teaching styles can be completely different yet equally valuable. The teachers they invited to collaborate, Irene and Paula, are true experts in their fields and added immense value to the course. By the middle of the program, I already regretted not choosing the three-week teacher training instead! But one thing is for sure—I will be back in Phangan and at Moksha. Love you guys! ❤️
I recently completed Moksha’s 3 week yoga teacher training course in the beautiful Koh Phangan. What an amazing 3 weeks! As someone who is relatively new to yoga I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the pace of classes and intensity. However, Moksha guides you through and gives you the confidence you need to go at your own pace and listen to what your body needs. Throughly enjoyed the course programme! The online part of the training gives you a good foundation and is explained well. My favourite was the morning yoga class and meditation - a lovely way to start the day. The views from the shala made it a transformative experience. Sunset hill provide beautiful food and lovely accommodation. A huge thank you to all 4 teachers - Mika, Warren, Irene and Paula for their patience, expertises and inspiration. Already missing the beautiful island ❤️ whatever brings you to yoga teaching and at whatever level you are- I would definitely recommend the lovely Moksha ⭐️
My 200hr yoga teacher training with MOKSHA has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life ! The wisdom & guidance from every teacher expanded my knowledge on yoga & I experienced many physical improvements. I loved the venue, the food was outstanding & I’m grateful for the beautiful new relationships with my fellow yogis *
This 200h Yoga Teacher Training is really recomendable. The training is well structured and offers everything you need to have wonderful 3 weeks and feel prepared to become a yoga teacher afterwards. The location is also very nice, with great views of the sunset, nice rooms and great food with always vegan options. Down a small hill is Secret Beach and a 10min walk the next 7Eleven.
This experience is a new start in Yoga. I have learned a lot about this discipline and about me. Having different teachers, all of them amazing and inspiring, and styles of yoga has reminded me that yoga is going to be totally different for you. The accomodation in Sunset Hill has been amazing, I miss the pool and the sunsets already. On the other hand, teaching a Yoga class is nothing like doing a Yoga class. In the course I have learned to guide during the practice, improving my practice, connecting the breath to the movement, adjusting the postures, planning, being flexible to changes, understanding other people’s limitations, adapting to who is practicing the class, avoiding injuries, building a safe space and trusting myself. Making sense of every move and why.✨
