Lumina Wellness Sanctuary

About

Nestled in the jungle stillness of Ubud, Bali, Lumina Wellness Sanctuary is a retreat space devoted to rest, renewal, and conscious living. Situated along Jalan Pakut in Singakerta, the property sits within the lush river valleys that define this part of central Bali, offering guests a rare sense of remove from noise and urgency. Here, the natural environment — soft light filtering through dense canopy, the sounds of the surrounding jungle — becomes an active part of the restorative experience rather than mere backdrop.

Lumina was conceived and curated by jewellery designer Carolyn Tyler, whose background working with form, texture, balance, and meaning is evident in every corner of the property. No two villas at Lumina are the same — each space is individually composed with handcrafted timber features, artisanal textiles, natural stone elements, and carefully selected artwork. Standout accommodations include the Jaguar suite, a premium teakwood cottage set along the edge of the river valley with its own private pool, and the Wood Rose Deluxe King Twin Suite, a restored teak gladak perched on the ridge with views across the main pool and valley below.

The philosophy underpinning Lumina is one of intentional slowing down. Rather than treating stillness as an escape from productivity, the retreat frames quiet and presence as an essential part of the creative process. Writers, artists, and reflective thinkers are drawn here specifically to reconnect with their work through deeper attention and a gentler pace. The environment is designed to soften mental noise, sharpen focus, and open space for new perspectives to emerge naturally.

Wellness at Lumina is approached not as indulgence but as a return to breath, balance, and natural rhythm. While the retreat does not position itself exclusively as a yoga studio, its offerings are rooted in the same principles that draw people to mindful movement practices — restoration, presence, and intentional living. Guests looking for a place in Ubud that genuinely supports slowing down, rather than simply marketing the idea, will find something quietly different here.
