GoogleHighly recommended. I had been practicing yoga for some years before attending classes with Karen. In my opinion, it was a brand-new experience. Everything has been absolutely outstanding as Karen is a dedicated teacher with in-depth knowledge of the body and mind. She also has a clear understanding of what each student needs. In less than two years, I believe I have improved my overall understanding of the yoga practice as well as my understanding of myself through her teachings. I also have to mention that the dedication of her students also makes classes even better.
I started to learn Shadow Yoga one year ago, at the Islington Yoga school. I found the sessions to be very nicely and systematically built up, gradually from the fundamentals. I had / have the pleasure to work with Monique; her genuinely kind personality, extensive knowledge, attentive nature, and energy make the practice a joy. (I met Karen quickly 2x, and had similar positive impression.) Clearly recommended school, and my best wishes to both teachers!
I feel very blessed to have such great yoga teachers at Islington yoga. Monique and Karen really know their stuff and show great dedication to students. I've been going to Islington yoga classes for a while, which has enabled me to stay supple and fit. That said, these classes are more than just exercise classes - they teach you about your body, breathing, building strength, how to deal with stiffness and how to work with any twinges or injuries you might have picked up going about your daily life. Their approach is considerate and shows really deep knowledge. Would highly recommend this class for both beginners and more experienced yoga students.
Islington Yoga is a gem. I travel from Ireland to train in Shadow yoga with Karen. Her classes, intensives and retreats are exceptional; I've always appreciated the content, precise instruction, rhythm. intelligent adjustments and progression. I recommend this school for beginners to advanced yoga students.
I have been with Karen at Islington Yoga for over ten years, starting as a complete beginner. Karen's teaching is exceptional - rigorous, attentive and encouraging. Her knowledge of the history, theory and practice of yoga is encyclopaedic. If you are serious about yoga, you cannot find a better place than this (and I've tried a few others). Cannot recommend highly enough.
