GoogleWe had a truly wonderful stay! The views from our cabin were fabulous even with a nor’easter rolling in — the stormy gray skies only added to the unique experience. The accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed making it easy to relax, regardless of the weather. What really set the place apart was the staff. Everyone was generous and extremely helpful, especially when it came to honoring the lower rates I found online! They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable and stress-free and gave us a free upgrade to a cabin, which was so awesome. The onsite restaurant had great food and cocktails too! Shout out to Kelly for being such a doll and driving us around in her golf cart! Despite the wild weather, we still had a fantastic time. The views were cool and dramatic, and the staff‘s hospitality made all the difference. We want to return in the summer! Highly recommended!
Had a positive experience during our glamping stay. We camped Sunday to Monday, which seems to be less busy, cheaper, and quieter according to reviews. I think off-peak times are a much different experience. Once you arrive to Governor's Island, you can text the concierge and they will quickly arrive in a golf cart to bring your bags and give you a ride to the grounds. If you have heavy luggage, you’ll want to take advantage of this because it’s a decent walk. They have yard games, hammocks, a bar and restaurant on the grounds. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The food was good, but again…you can only do so much on an island, so don’t be blown away. Friendly staff all around. My only complaint was that I had a lot of mosquito bites at night, but my wife didn’t get bit at all! Overall it was a fun experience, and you can’t beat the views…something only unique to NYC
This is such an extraordinary place with kind and courteous staff. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and escorted from the ferry straight to hotel. The room itself was cozy and comfortable. There were a few small quirks — for example, the bathroom area is separated from the bedroom by partitions that have tiny gaps, so technically someone could see through. But honestly, it didn’t bother us much, because everything else was absolutely amazing. The views are breathtaking — both during the day and at night. Our room overlooked the Statue of Liberty, and waking up to see it glowing in the sunrise was truly magical. Dinner was delicious; no complaints there. The prices are on the higher side, but that’s understandable — there aren’t many dining options nearby, especially if you’re not staying over a weekend. Breakfast was simple but filling, and it was included in the stay. The only real downside was the noise at night — helicopters and boats made it hard to sleep. The hotel provides earplugs, which helps a little, but if you’re a light sleeper, keep that in mind. Still, it’s a small price to pay for such an unforgettable experience. The room was clean and well-kept, though we did notice a bit of mildew in some areas — probably due to the humidity from being so close to the water. There were plenty of towels, clean bedding, and comfy robes provided. In truth, we didn’t spend much time inside because we wanted to enjoy every moment outside — the views, the peaceful atmosphere, and the evening firepits with complimentary marshmallows, which made everything feel cozy and romantic. At night, the territory closes off around 9 PM, so you can’t wander around after that — but it actually adds a sense of safety and exclusivity. Overall, I highly recommend this place. I fell in love with it after seeing it in an episode of Sex and the City, and it turned out to be the perfect setting for our 15th anniversary getaway. It was our first time here, but definitely not the last.
