Ashram Ratu Bagus

About

Nestled in the heart of Bali, Indonesia, Ashram Ratu Bagus is a spiritual retreat centre dedicated to a unique and transformative practice known as Bio Energy Meditation, also called Shaking Meditation or Shaking Yoga. Founded by Ratu Bagus, an Energy Master who has lived and taught at this Balinese ashram for many years, the centre offers visitors an experience rooted in connection — to the self, to nature, and to a warm and active community of practitioners from around the world.

At the core of the ashram's teachings is the belief that the body holds a natural life energy that, when freed and strengthened, has the capacity to support healing on all levels. Shaking Meditation works by releasing energetic blocks that can stand in the way of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Rather than a passive or purely contemplative practice, this is an active, expressive form of meditation — one that Ratu Bagus describes as coming from the soul and from feeling. Laughter, movement, and joy are considered integral parts of the practice, and the atmosphere at the ashram reflects this open and celebratory spirit.

The ashram is more than a place to practise — it is a living community shaped by Balinese culture and spiritual tradition. The grounds include a Barong temple, a sacred space central to Balinese Hindu belief, which has recently undergone new development as part of the ashram's ongoing growth. Daily sessions, mantras, and bhajans (devotional songs) are part of life here, giving visitors a rich and immersive experience that goes well beyond a typical yoga retreat.

For those unable to travel to Bali, the ashram maintains an active international presence, with shaking retreats and shake days held regularly across Europe, including events in Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and beyond. Detailed information about visiting the ashram in Bali — including booking, airport transfers, visa requirements, and dress code — is available through the centre's website, making it straightforward to plan a stay for both first-time visitors and returning practitioners.
