Ubud, Bali

YogaGarhi is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher training school based in Ubud, Bali, built on a foundational belief that yoga is a way of life rather than a set of physical postures. The name itself reflects this ethos — "garhi" means fortress, and the school positions itself as a protected space where the authentic principles of yoga are preserved against dilution and distortion. Rooted in the non-dual philosophy of Advaita, the school was founded by Yogacharya Sachin, a teacher whose own years of experience within conventional yoga training led him to recognise that something deeper was consistently missing from how yoga was being taught and transmitted.
The curriculum draws from multiple classical styles, including Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Iyengar, and integrates a strong foundation in Ayurveda throughout. Central to the teaching approach is the school's Shiv-Shakti Method, a signature framework that translates ancient yogic theory into practical, applicable understanding. A key part of this is the recognition that yoga is not one-size-fits-all — each student carries a unique Prakriti, or energetic constitution, and the training is designed to honour that individuality rather than apply a uniform practice to everyone.
Programs range from a 12-day, 100-hour course suited to beginners looking to deepen their practice, to a 200-hour, 24-day training designed for those who want to teach internationally, through to an advanced 300-hour, 28-day program for experienced practitioners refining their teaching skills. One particularly distinctive offering is what the school describes as the world's first Pre-YTTC Mentorship Program, which supports students in building their foundation before the formal training begins — an approach that reflects the school's commitment to genuine readiness over rushed certification.
Batches are kept intentionally small, with a maximum of eight to ten students per group, allowing for focused, personalised attention throughout. Set against the cultural backdrop of Bali, the school combines structured academic and physical training with elements that connect students to the local environment, including temple visits and cultural activities. With over 500 graduates to date, YogaGarhi has developed a reputation grounded not in trend-following, but in depth, integrity, and a sincere commitment to what yoga has traditionally represented.
