Shadow Yoga, founded by Natanaga Zhander (Shandor Remete), is taught through the practice of set preparatory forms. These forms (preludes) are made of linear (sun) and circular (warrior/martial) stances which combine rhythmic breathing, rhythmic movement and bandha (internal locks) to release obstructions in the peripheral body and spine.Through simple repetitive movements, this systematic preparation of Hatha Yoga utilises the principles of Marmasthana (junctions of vital energy found on the surface of the body) effective in releasing (injury, trauma, or lifestyle) blockages in the body which ultimately leads to the unobstructed circulation of the life force.
Emphasis is placed on cultivating digestive fire (jatara agni) which nurtures blood and bone, and builds a strong constitution and healthy immune system.
As with other self cultivating arts, Shadow Yoga is taught in a course based format. This offers students a systematic, progressive, sequential understanding on which to build a solid yoga practice and a foundation for good health.
The style is graceful, fluid and dynamic with equal emphasis on movement and breath.

SHADOW YOGA CLASSES:
Shadow Introduction - Introduces form, philosophy, and breath - the starting point for students new to Shadow Yoga. Focus on strengthening bones/blood/breath, freeing joints & toning the abdomen.
Cultivating Personal Practice - One-to-one style teaching with assistance from the teacher. Compliments group instruction courses.
Balakrama - Stepping Into Strength - Increases strength and endurance through firm joint and bone work which in turn builds blood and breath.
Chaya Yoddha Sancalanam - Churning the Shadow Warrior - Refines coordination and rhythm of body and breath by further breaking down restrictions in the hips and tension in the shoulders.
Kartikeya Mandala - Garland of Light - Increases circulation freeing the spine from the imposition of the limbs.
Asana Angahara(arrangement)1 - "The sequential arrangement of bodily shapes as well as the arrangement within these shapes." Utilising linear or swaying arrangements.
NRTTA SADHANA:
Eight Palms - The adaptation of rhythmic dance for the purpose of self cultivation. A natural extension of Shadow Yoga. It is taught to those who have thoroughly learned and continue to practice the 3 prelude forms
