GoogleI love this place! The center is beautiful, peaceful, and spacious. The yoga taught there is the real thing. I have been practicing yoga for over 30 years, different forms of it, and Sivananda is the best. They take it seriously. When they say Om, you know they mean it. It is the right mix of spirituality and physical awareness and teaches you the connection between mind and body. Do t forget to buy a homemade cookie there. They’re famous!
I feel truly lucky to have discovered the Sivananda Centre in London two years ago. From the very beginning, it has been an inspiring place to learn and practice yoga in its most authentic form. At first glance from the outside, the centre doesn’t look that large – but I was amazed to find how spacious it actually is. Most of the yoga classes take place in the beautiful, airy building at the back, which you reach by walking through a charming courtyard and peaceful garden. Every time I step inside, I feel a sense of calm and positivity. This is an excellent place for beginners like me, as it offers gentle yoga classes and beginner courses that are welcoming and supportive. What makes this centre truly special, however, is that it is not a typical “yoga studio.” It is a traditional yoga centre guided by real swamis, teaching not only the physical practice but also the deeper benefits of yoga for body, mind, and spirit. If you’re looking for a place to just meet friends over coffee or focus only on exercise, this may not be the right fit. But if you are seeking an authentic, spiritual, and holistic yoga experience – open to all ages and all walks of life – I can only highly recommend the Sivananda Centre. I was fascinated to learn that Sivananda Centres have been established worldwide since the 1970s, carrying forward this tradition. Having such a centre in London feels like a blessing. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone wanting to experience the true benefits of yoga.
New to London, I've been going to this centre for a few months now, and it's been a great discovery! One thing you should know before going: the teaching is very traditional. There are also workshops, courses and vegetarian cooking classes. I think the courses are of a very high quality, with experienced teachers, and the place is magnificent, with a charming little garden where you can drink herbal tea. I find the atmosphere in this yoga centre really unique.
A beautiful place to practise yoga with dedicated, knowledgeable and inspiring teachers. Rooms are spacious and clean. Classes are 90 minutes and include breathing exercises, asanas and relaxation. The centre also offers workshops, cooking classes and retreats. There are classes every day and all levels are welcomed. There is a lovely feel to the centre. I always leave feeling recharged and calm. Highly recommend.
The Tuesday evening online class taught by Swami Sivadasananda is very special. This is not an ordinary yoga class. Swamiji has spent his entire life as a yogi and so can teach in a way that I have never found in any other class. The effect on my mental health has been profoundly positive. I would recommend this to anybody leading a stressful life. Also all classes are recorded so you can study in your own time. Fire of yoga saturday and sunday UK time 3 pm is free and online. fantastic class.
