GoogleProgressive Pilates -- A Beginner's Perspective I got to work with Savannah! We had two sessions. The first time I was dealing with severe stress in my chest, mostly psycho-somatic. But as we know (or, as I learned) in pilates, the psycho-somatic is the somatic, it extends into it. I had never done pilates before and felt completely welcome to it. I am athletic but have never used my body in that way, so it was fun to be challenged, but to also start with the absolute basics, like my breath. I started on my back and learned the basic breath-work techniques and practiced opening up my ribcage. This was a game changer. We just did an hour of breath work, with a little bit of reformer near the end. The second time, we did the Cadillac machine and the reformer the entire time. We worked on my hamstrings, my hips (my muscles as a cyclist are very tense and sore), and more than anything, my spinal alignment. I'd never done anything like it. I'd say for any beginner that loves open communication learning a new language to speak to their body with, being challenged, meeting the burn, and getting to know their own breath, Progressive Pilates is a great place to start or continue your journey! i've now seen Christina for each of my two pregnancies and post partum. I truly believe PP is the reason I did not get diastasis recti and that my recovery has been relatively smooth. there is a gentleness to the approach here that belies its effectiveness - I do a lot of different workouts including group pilates but nothing else has taught me to hone in to the minute elements of my body and its motion (joints, different body parts). the mindfulness that comes from thinking about breath, about the angle of your pelvis and tailbone, and about core engagement and safe movement is quite simply life changing. and christina is a rare soul, a wonderful teacher. could not recommend more!
Progressive Pilates is the best. Working with Brynne was my first time ever doing Pilates and she is amazing. She was incredibly aware and in tune with my body. I also gained so much in terms of muscle activation that was totally unconscious before. For example, she had me lift my leg and brought it to my attention that I was also tightening my neck and shoulders! Crazy! It’s a gorgeous space, the energy is very clean and the vibes are professional but super friendly. I've also worked with Cristina and Charlie, who were also both awesome. It's a great place and I have referred many of my patients, too. They always come back with glowing reviews!
I’m so lucky to have to stumbled into the studio one day and couldn’t recommend it more. First of all I love this place. Everyone has always been so nice. The studio is really cute. And you can’t beat the one on one training that they offer. I’ve been working with Charlie for a while now and she’s honestly been a life saver. She has such a deep knowledge of movement and her background in so many disciplines really makes her an amazing instructor. Whatever your goals or needs are I know they will help get you there. Just be ready to become obsessed with Pilates if you aren’t already.
I can't overstate how much Progressive Pilates has improved my mobility and my life. After a catastrophic injury, multiple surgeries, and years in physical therapy, I was still struggling to walk without pain. The holistic approach of Pilates and the compassionate, expert, and individualized sessions at the studio helped me regain the ability to walk and even run pain-free. Now my only pain comes from sore muscles after sessions! Thank you to Taylor, Lucy, and Mikayla, for all your work with me--see you again soon!
