GoogleI took an intermediate reformer & chair class with Chrissy at Nice and Tall. Chrissy is extremely attentive, supportive, and meticulous with her hands-on adjustments. She is easy to understand, and will quickly come to address any confusion, while also being encouraging and praising. I felt safe and secure under her watchful eye. The class itself was small, just the four of us students, which I felt was just right (for an 8 a.m. class). It was challenging from start to end and I got a great workout. Most of the class was spent on the reformer, before we ended on the chair with mermaid. The music was kept low and it was refreshing to hear something more downtempo and atmospheric, rather than feeling like I’m in a club environment and straining to hear the instructor’s cues (though maybe there is a time and place for this too). The studio is very clean and full of Joe’s classic pilates equipment. Being here had me in a state of reverie knowing that the studio is legendary — truly a time capsule that continues to pass down the Pilates method to more and more students. I’m blessed to be able to practice here!
I love this place. A warm, cozy, inviting studio...and privates with Chrissy are incredible. Aside from being incredibly nice and knowledgeable, she's laser-focused on you and your form at all times. I'm a physically active person, but definitely see improvements in my strength that I likely wouldn't have achieved through traditional strength/cardio workouts alone. Honestly, my only regret is that I didn't start these works out years ago... (did I mention that Chrissy is amazing?--because she is!)
I booked this place before I knew it was the original location. This place is such a gem! The space and the teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and hands on with technique. I’ve been doing Pilates for about 4 months and this will be a place I always remember and I can’t wait to visit again when I come back to New York! Thank you Chrissy and Konstantin for being wonderful teachers in NYC! It definitely made my trip extra special.
Great instructors that know how to adjust and correct the classes are small and so the attention is almost like a private class - highly recommend
Konstantin was an amazing instructor. I fell in love with Pilates years ago. I was exposed to the pilates thru Club Pilates and other studios. This environment is special. Knowing that Joseph Pilates started here was electrifying . I realized that I have not been taught by the caliber of instructor that this place offers. I appreciated the explanation and the direction that was given. I was visiting New York and I am envious of anyone who is able to take these classes on a regular basis. It was a honor to be in the class today. THANK YOU!!!
