GoogleFitzroy Hot Yoga has been life-changing for me. I started coming here to support my mental health and my recovery, and it has become one of the most grounding, healing parts of my week. The teachers bring such a wealth of experience, and every class feels safe, encouraging, and uplifting. I’ve also noticed huge improvements in some old injuries that I thought I’d just have to live with. The combination of heat, mindful movement, and clear guidance has helped my body open and strengthen in ways I didn’t expect. What really makes this place special is the community. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming — it genuinely feels like a supportive space to grow, physically and mentally. A massive thank you to Michael and Suzanne for creating such an incredible, heart-centred community. I’m so grateful to have found this place.
My partner and I were passing through Melbourne and stopped off here on recommendation. We really enjoyed the class and the studio was great with good, clean facilities. Beginner friendly. We also met Michael, the owner, who was very friendly and helpful to us. Would call in again if passing.
I’ve attended a few sessions at the studio now and being completely new to Bikram yoga. Micheal and Susan and there team are patient and welcoming while leading great practice. I would highly recommend both the bikram and pilates classes.
I have been practising at Bikram Yoga Fitzroy for 6 months; the owners, Michael and Susan, are lovely people with a deep commitment to the practice—all classes are 90 minutes as intended. Michael, also a chiropractor, provides more detailed physiology guidance in his sessions, which I appreciate. All the teachers at this studio guide us through the postures beautifully and are super helpful if you want advice on improving your postures and personal practice. As someone who struggled to make time for fitness in the past 4 years, returning to Bikram Yoga almost 10 years on has made me realise this practice is incredibly special. And it was easy for me to commit. So far, I would say that by practising 3 to 4 times a week, I have: - lost weight. Hot yoga classes burn a lot of calories - the practice modifies my food cravings and diet - toned and defined my shoulders and arms (very noticeable) improved my flexibility - I no longer have intense period cramps (I feel this is related as my periods improved a month after starting) - sleep better and breathe through my nose more now (I have asthma and had issues with breathing correctly, and Bikram Yoga is primarily a breathing exercise) - manage stress better - my skin has improved. Sweating helps remove dead skin cells I notice a lot of new people come for a few classes but don’t return. It is hard, and like many things, you have to commit to it for, I would say, 2 months (practising 3 times a week, ideally) before you really notice the benefits. Hot yoga is not only physically challenging but also mentally very challenging. These classes are the only time I can chill inside my head. I also love that people of all ages, in particular, many 50+, are practising. Everyone is on their mat in their own head. There are no phones, no distractions, no mirror selfies. A long review, but if you have been considering trying hot yoga, I hope this is helpful to you. As long as I live in Melbourne, I will be practising at this studio. UPDATE: A month or so back I started taking the Hot Pilates classes run by Adam. This class is fantastic, I wanted to build strength and tone more and Hot Pilates is doing this for me. The exercises compliment my Bikram practice. After Hot Pilates I also take Yin Yoga which complements both the pilates and Bikram. I love that I have access to all three classes in the one studio!
I’m in Melbourne on business for a week and purposefully booked my accommodation to be near to this studio so I could practice in a caring, compassionate, friendly, and professional space - that delivers the original 90 minute Hot Yoga sequence. Thank you, Michael and Susan for such a friendly welcome And for your commitment to the health wellness and happiness of others.
