GoogleMy partner and I stayed at Anandmaya for a week on the recommendation of a friend of ours, who said "anything Ashish does will be excellent" and we found that to be true. Ashish is the owner, and also a very experienced retreat organizer and Himalaya mountain tour guide - he can help arrange or direct you to whatever you would like to experience in the area. As other reviewers have highlighted, the staff were all genuinely friendly and kind, with warm smiles and very helpful. The room was clean, things functioned (bathroom fan, toilet, hot water heaters), free of mold (not true of everywhere we tried), and the beds were clean and comfortable. If one requires more towels or anything, you need only ask. Perhaps my favorite part was the clean, quiet, and well-stocked yoga shala on the top floor. I could use their mats, yoga blocks and cushions, etc with a view of the mountains and out of the wind and rain. The energy is very nice in there. I didn't try the yoga classes or kirtan/sound healing trainings but the instructors seemed lovely and radiant. My only challenge was the noise of Rishikesh in general during the day due to the construction everywhere and honking, music, etc. This will be true anywhere in the main parts of town. The nights were quiet. That said, I'm extraordinarily sensitive to sounds, most travellers will likely be fine. I would recommend and would stay here again in rishikesh. Enjoy!
I stayed here for 5 nights and had a great experience! The team was kind and always present when I needed something. I stayed in room C02 and loved that there was a desk with a lovely view, since I was working while being there. The place was very clean and had the perfect location for right next to Moktan Cafe (best chai in Rishikesh). Everything you need is very accessible by foot from this place.
I had a truly enriching stay at Anandamya in Rishikesh and can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for more than just accommodation. What made my stay special were the Astrology course and the small cooking class I attended during my time there. Both were very well organized, insightful, and taught with genuine passion. The astrology course was easy to follow yet deep enough to be meaningful, and the cooking class was a lovely hands-on experience that introduced me to authentic Indian flavors and techniques. The atmosphere at Anandamya is calm, welcoming, and perfect for learning and self-reflection. The staff and teachers were kind, patient, and always happy to answer questions. I felt very comfortable and supported throughout my stay. The hotel itself is clean, peaceful, and well located, making it a great base in Rishikesh. Overall, Anandamya offers a beautiful combination of hospitality, culture, and learning. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone interested in spiritual growth, Indian culture, and a warm, authentic experience.
I had a wonderfull time in Anandamaya Retreat. First everybody who's working there, is doing it with devotion and a smile coming from the heart! Ashish and Somya organized everything so well ... the taxi pickup at the airport, the food, massages, etc... I booked Harmonium Kirtan course. Rohit is a teacher full of devotion...wow... He has the art to relax you, bring out your voice and believe in your capacities. It's also lifeclass. I felt blessed and i'm gratefull for this experience with him! The indian foodmade by also named Rohid was amazing...i loved it!! ...and the best chai Marsala! I appreciated verry much also the morning yoga classes given by Grasha. Hatha yoga in a simple way, but also challenging...wonderfull I enjoyed als the great ayurvedic massage by... Looking forward to come back!
I recently had three weeks at Anandmaya Retreat and am very happy to recommend it to fellow travellers. The price is reasonable for Tapovan and it's well situated to enjoy this neighbourhood. The rooms are large, comfortable, have a contemporary feel, and hot water showers. The street is quiet at night, but there's lots to enjoy, including 7 yoga shalas [at the time of writing], 3 great eateries, a really good 'hole in the wall' coffee shop, laundry services, a corner shop, and a few boutiques. The team at Anandmaya are super friendly, and helpful, and there's in hotel catering. The food is good and well priced, and guests can have room service if they wish. There's yoga on site, sound healing, massage, cooking classes, and astrology, and all can be taken as courses if you've time. Oh, and if you want to explore the wider area and mountains, Aziz can arrange great programmes through his very experienced tour company. As a 'longer staying' traveller, I would have liked to have been able to have a monthly 'room rate', and perhaps this will be possible in the future. However, I was recommended this hotel by a friend, and am very happy to do the same for friends wanting a comfortable room in Tapovan.
