A 'thriving life' involves healthy, nurturing intimate relationships

Great to see Australians are acknowledging the damaging effects of coercive control within intimate relationships - now criminalising the behaviour in Queensland. Coercive control describes a pattern of behaviours a partner uses to gain control and power by slowly eroding a person’s autonomy and self-esteem. Examples include acts of intimidation, threats, and humiliation. The process of coercive control can happen very slowly which is why it can go unnoticed for many years. Some signs could include; A person will monitor the activity of their partner, slowly move to isolate them from friends and family, use threats or sulking behaviour, and sexual coercion - manipulating their partner into unwanted sexual behaviour. A 'thriving life' is about cultivating healthy relationships within your inner circle and broader community. Listen to the signals your body sends you within your relationships as 'the body never lies'. Yoga is a great way to befriend the sensations within your body and learn how to process them in a safe space.
