Samasthala Yoga - 200-hour Bali Yoga Teacher Training in Bali

About

Samasthala Yoga offers a 200-hour intensive yoga teacher training programme set in the mountain village of Selemadeg, on the western side of Bali, Indonesia. Surrounded by dense jungle and cascading rice terraces, the retreat is hosted at The Mountain Shala, a setting that reflects the programme's emphasis on grounding, balance, and connection to the natural world. The name Samasthala itself translates to "balance," a principle that sits at the heart of everything the training covers.

What distinguishes this programme from many others is its deliberate inclusion of both dynamic Vinyasa flow and traditional Hatha Yin within the same curriculum. Recognising that the interplay of opposites — yin and yang — is fundamental to yoga itself, Samasthala teaches an ashtanga-adjacent Vinyasa style alongside restorative Yin practice, giving graduates a genuinely well-rounded foundation. This dual approach is relatively uncommon among Yoga Alliance approved programmes, and it equips teachers to work confidently with a wide range of students and teaching environments.

The syllabus covers a broad range of subjects delivered in an accessible format. Students explore asana, pranayama, philosophy, bandha, meditation, anatomy and physiology, the five elements, and the 14 meridians, among other topics. The programme is described as all-inclusive, with accommodation provided, and carries Yoga Alliance RYS200® certification, meaning graduates leave with an internationally recognised qualification valid for teaching yoga worldwide.

Samasthala is clear about its intention to stay close to what it considers the authentic roots of yoga — an approach the school describes as fundamental in its simplicity. Rather than chasing trends, the training prioritises a genuine understanding of yoga as a practice that connects the individual self with something larger. This makes the programme well-suited not only to those pursuing a teaching qualification, but also to practitioners who simply want to deepen their knowledge and personal practice in a meaningful way. The next intake runs 15–29 August 2026, with places available from £1,750 including accommodation.
