It acts very quickly, as we work in each class through energy blocks, using varoius techniques such as asana (posture), pranayam (breath), visualization (energy focus, intent), using mudras (easy and simple but powerful), sound current to uplift (all is vibrational), sacred mantras (only a small portion, and there is no obligation to join in with the chant/mantra, it is optional, simple to experience is already powerful), deep yogic relaxation (the powerful art of yoga nidra), and meditation.
