Yoga Niketan Ashram

One of India's oldest ashrams — traditional yoga & meditation since 1964

About

Yoga Niketan Ashram is one of India's most historic and authentic yoga institutions, established in 1964 by the great Himalayan Yogi Paramhamsa Swami Yogeshwarananda Saraswati. Situated on a serene 25-acre campus beside the Ganges River, the ashram has been a spiritual home for sincere seekers for over six decades.

Unlike many modern yoga schools, Yoga Niketan maintains the traditional gurukul approach — students live, eat and practise together in a disciplined ashram environment governed by the ancient rhythms of yoga life: early rising, daily sadhana, study, seva (selfless service) and meditation.

The ashram's teachers, many of whom have practised at Niketan for decades, offer instruction in classical Hatha yoga, Pranayama, Raja yoga, Karma yoga and deep meditation. The teaching approach is deeply experiential and personal — small class sizes ensure each student receives individual attention and guidance.

Yoga Niketan is particularly beloved for its genuine simplicity and authenticity. There are no flashy marketing campaigns, only sincere practice and community. Visitors of all nationalities and backgrounds are welcomed into the ashram family. Stays of one week to several months are available; longer stays are encouraged for those seeking genuine transformation.
