A few years ago, I regularly had to take time off work due to back pain. Some days I couldn’t stand up straight; to be able to function in a very basic way, I tried various physical therapies with moderate success, but none of them 'held'. The turning point happened when I incorporated Gentle Somatic Yoga(R) and Pilates into my exercise routine. Gentle Somatic Yoga (GSY) improved my posture and released chronically tight muscles, relieving my pain. Pilates then toned my core, providing stability, inner strength and reduced my likelihood of re-injury. Through melting away my muscle tension and gaining strength where I was weak, I soothed my pain and discovered what styles of yoga I am most passionate about teaching. It's only natural that I'd want to share my success with my students so they too can feel greater comfort and strength in their activities of daily living. I'm passionate about sharing what knowledge I've learned over thirty years of working with the body and look forward to seeing you either online or for a studio class of Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga or Gentle Somatic Yoga(R).
My PRIVATE SESSIONS, MINI-RETREATS and WEEKLY GROUP CLASSES are influenced by my background as a Massage + Bowen Therapist and history of back trouble. With a focus on therapeutic movement combined with breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques and meditation my aim is to provide a holistic approach to enhanced health and wellbeing. Look out for a blended yoga and pilates class coming around September 2022!
