Description

Join Amanda Zdanowicz & Miriam Van Doorn for this magical 5-day/4-night retreat where we will explore the 7 Chakras to bring balance and harmony into our lives. The Chakras are energy centres in your body that affect your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Each yoga practice will show you how to connect to a specific chakra and use breathing techniques, mudras (hand positions) and sound therapy to cleanse and support each energy centre. Daily guided meditations and Yoga Nidra will also help the conscious body to absorb all the techniques and practices we learn. As you begin to work on your chakras, your energy begins to flow upwards, Kundalini rising, resulting in a deeper sense of self, understanding and self-love.

Sanctuary Retreat is located in Mission Beach, halfway between Cairns and Townsville, amidst lush tropical Rainforest, overlooking the Coral Sea. With secluded beaches meeting the Great Barrier Reef, unique accommodation, dedicated yoga space, massage therapies and delicious cuisine, Sanctuary Retreat is the unspoilt paradise you have been waiting to discover. Mission Beach is the closest mainland point to the Great Barrier Reef. Just offshore are many deserted islands, most of which are protected National Parks. Our retreat includes an excursion to beautiful Dunk Island, covered with rainforest, secluded beaches and the area’s best walking trails.

Two unique and contrasting styles of accommodation are offered at Sanctuary to suit all tastes and budgets.

Accessed by a boardwalk, the Rainforest Huts have no solid walls, instead the timber structure is screened on all four sides with weather proof curtains able to be drawn for privacy and protection from adverse weather.  Each hut has a small verandah, simple furnishings and can sleep two in either double or twin occupancy. Some huts have elegant and rustic alfresco ensuites, others share a bathroom in the main house.

The Deluxe Canopy Cabins are of solid wooden construction, with screened glass windows for maximum protection from the elements, while still offering a close connection to the sights and sounds of the forest. With a studio-style lounge and bedroom, private furnished verandah, and spectacular glass-walled bathrooms looking out high in the trees, the canopy cabins offer superior accommodation in an entirely natural environment.

The Sanctuary Longhouse Restaurant and Bar captures the essence of the tropics with polished hardwood floors, high ceilings with fans lazily shifting the balmy air and a balcony situated perfectly to watch the sunrise heralded by a dawn chorus or a full moon appear out of the sea at sunset. Specialising in locally grown fresh foods and excellent coffee to satisfy your base desires, Sanctuary cuisine caters to all taste buds. With the juice bar, fresh muffins and bar snacks available in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, the relaxed atmosphere and home-made, delicious flavours can be enjoyed all day.
