About the Retreat

Samahita Yoga Retreats are for everyone, all ages

and levels, sincerely looking to learn and build a stronger foundation

for practice. For only a little extra money (compared to the Yoga Daily Program),

you have a great opportunity to go deeper into the practice and put the

entire practice into a larger context. It is the perfect balance

between the Yoga Daily Program and one of our Centered Yoga courses.

Although you have extra time with one teacher, there is still plenty of

free time in the afternoons to relax, enjoy the beach and the quiet

retreat environment.

Throughout the week you will be working with Elonne, building on the

different yogic practices each day, so that you leave with some

essential groundwork, a more profound understanding and a solid practice

to take home with you. Those with a pre-existing practice will expand

on their knowledge and foundation, leaving with greater clarity and a

more refined practice.

Each Samahita Yoga Retreat week consists of the following:
  • A full week to work with one of Centered Yoga’s experienced

    teachers. All of our teachers have been trained extensively by the

    renowned Paul Dallaghan and O.P. Tiwariji.

  • Morning intention work, followed by breath work and pranayama from

    the Kaivalyadhama/O.P. Tiwariji tradition and asana/poses and

    vinyasa/movement with breath based on a liberal approach to the Ashtanga

    Vinyasa tradition.

  • Modifications as needed for different asanas/poses (both seated

    poses and training poses). We teach students to use props in order to

    accommodate everyone — all ages and levels of students, regardless of

    the limitation, are welcome and encouraged to join.

  • A chance for students either to begin to learn the Ashtanga Vinyasa

    system, or to improve on and expand their existing practice and

    experience. Again, all levels are welcome.

  • Restorative asana practice in the afternoon – a relaxing way to finish the day.
  • Extra time in the afternoon to workshop a specific aspect of the

    practice, answer questions and help students come to a greater

    understanding of Yoga in its entirety. This extra time is invaluable, as

    it puts the entire practice into a larger framework.

Although each week has all of the above listed offerings, there is a

specific focus for each retreat, and they are taught by a particular

teacher who will share their individual expertise and knowledge.

This Week’s Focus: Restore & Relax

Most of us in our busy lives need to rest more than anything, but it

is often the part of the practice that we forgo because we feel we lack

time. Rest and relaxation are essential parts of the practice. During

this week we will pay extra attention to the importance of

Shavasana/rest and relaxation, incorporating extra time for this

throughout the practice. Learn about and experience deep relaxation and

rest. See it as an integral part of practice.

We will also look at how the entire practice can and should have a

restorative effect. Whether you are doing breathwork or asana/poses and

vinyasas/movement with breath, the entire practice should support all

the systems of the body. Learn how to soften the practice and find this

subtle aspect, touching a deep sense of calm and inner peace.


About the Teacher Elonne Stockton

Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the

early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India,

the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama,

and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages,

hospitals, and clinics.

In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.

As Elonne’s understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and

more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She

feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she

is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues

The Daily Schedule

The program begins at 5pm on the first day of the retreat with a group welcome and departure is at 12pm on the last day.

The schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the teacher.

Deluxe One Bedroom Suite

We only have two deluxe one bedroom suites located in our most

private building closest to the sea. They have a private bedroom, living

room, fully equipped kitchen, generous bathroom and an extra large

balcony. Both suites offer a modern open living room with sofa bed, LCD

TV, working desk and DVD/ iPod Stereo. They are perfect for a family or

couple. The additional rate is a flat rate based on the room and is

added on to the total rate package whether a single individual, couple

or family.

Deluxe One Bedroom Suite - Additional cost on the total program package:

Our guestrooms are

set back just over 50 meters from the water to provide with you with a

private community and greater security. A selection of our rooms enjoy this spectacular sea view, while others enjoy the tropical gardens scene.

It is possible to extend your time on detox day by day from an above

program as fits your timeline. You can also add extra therapies and

treatments to your program at a special discounted rate.
