The ancient Ayurvedic healing system proposes we, and the universe, are all composed of the five elements - earth, water, fire, space and ether.  We are all born with a unique combination of these elements and that is our natural balance, or Prakriti dosha.  By understanding and applying the basic principles of Ayurveda, a personalised, daily yoga practice can become a great facilitator to correct or maintain your natural balance.

The teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and his son Desikachar are based on the principle that yoga must be continually adapted to the individual's changing needs in order to achieve the maximum therapeutic value. Combining this with the knowledge of Ayurveda you have the tools to personalise and continually adapt your yoga practice, taking into account your health, age and lifestyle.

No matter what style of yoga you already practice and love, these principles can be applied to make your practice efficient, powerful, and safe. Use the principles in this workshop to effectively practice - in the words of Krishnamacharya - "peace and power in your daily life".

Through the incorporation of Prana Flow - where prana is used as the navigating source of yoga practice and vital living, and flow is the state of unified consciousness - we work with the balance of the five elements and chakras in the body to create a practice that inspires you to live your yoga - on and off the mat.

Julia Tingulstad was born and raised in Norway. She has recently moved to Melbourne, studying to be a Chiropractor, and teaching yoga.

Julia is a certified Heart of Yoga teacher, embodying the principles taught by her teacher and mentor Mark Whitwell.  Also a long-time student of Shiva Rea - Prana Flow, she has studied yoga since her early teens and has been teaching classes and workshops since 2000 in her home country of Norway, and throughout Europe.  She has also coordinated and taught retreats at her second home, Guatemala.

Julia's interest in yoga was nurtured by her yogini mother at an early age and together they developed Tempel Yoga, a studio and style of yoga drawing on the teachings of T. Krishamacharya, Prana Flow and the healing system of Ayurveda.  Her interest in Ayurveda came as a natural extension of her yoga studies and practice when she visited Kerala in 2004 on a retreat with Shiva Rea.  Combined with international travels and exposure to many cultures and environs, Julia adapts her classes to each teaching environment and to meet the individual requirements of her students, thus inspiring them to enrich their lives through the practice of yoga.
