Introducing Vim Lane (experienced yoga teacher) to Port Stephens.

Why & how I came to yoga:

It’s been over 20 years since the first time I rolled out my yoga mat to practise the poses & I can honestly say my life is all the better for it. Having burnt the candle from both ends for far too many years my energy was completely depleted. Yoga fixed that.

A notice on a sandwich board @ the local shops caught my eye, “Yoga – upstairs”. This interested me. “Yes,” I thought to myself, “this is what I should be doing.” I had tried yoga in my university years & enjoyed it because I always felt great after each session.

My interest in yoga pursued to teacher training in the Iyengar method & later became a career. Teaching what I learn through my personal yoga practice brings me great pleasure, especially when those in my charge reap the benefits that yoga can offer.

All these years later I’m still rolling out my mat, excited about what the poses will reveal. Each day I ask myself, "What new information will I glimpse through the exploration of these wonderful poses bestowed to us by the great gurus?" Every day I discover something different & new about the poses and about myself.

Over the years my yoga practice has helped not only my physical body but my mental state of mind too. Serenity, calm & clarity developed alongside the physical dexterity. And more importantly, yoga has taught me to cope with the emotional ups & downs Life throws @ us every now & again.

It's amazing; what started as a physical need evolved into a way of life that has enhanced & improved it on so many different levels.

My yoga teaching journey:

Over 20+ years I practised & taught yoga on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, particularly @ Lotus Health Holistic Centre in Neutral Bay for 10 years. After Lotus Health closed, a colleague & I opened a yoga & well-being centre in the heart of Crows Nest. My classes ranged from beginner to experienced levels & special needs.

Alongside my public classes I also taught in the corporate arena in the CBD area of Sydney for 12 years, conducting a well-being yoga programme for IAG employees.

My school yoga programme spanned over 2 decades @ North Sydney Girls’ High & 5 years @ Roseville College.

Over the years I've taught numerous private classes to students with certain conditions or ailments, helping them to overcome or manage their health issues.

I moved to Port Stephens in January 2018 to be closer to family & friends and enjoy every opportunity to share my yoga knowledge & experience with the community.
