“When pressure traps us under these heavy water realms, it's easy to forget the creative capacity we have to achieve the re-weaving. It's easy to succumb to the idea that others are doing it to us. That feeling is a sure sign that you've entered the defensive layers surrounding your own inner core. If you persevere at these moments, countering feelings of helplessness and victimization with a dawning awareness of the transformative power of your own inner nature, the septile transforms from a punishing, life-threatening tyrant into a wise Zen Master who knows what you are really made of, even when you yourself forget.
There's a Zen parable of the acolyte who asks the master for the right way to seek truth. Because Zen is the direct way, instead of answering in words the Master pushes the student's head underwater and holds it there until the student finds the inner strength to throw off the Master's grip and comes back above the surface gasping for breath. This indicates that until your search for truth has the same primal urgency that your search for breath has when breath is denied to you, you haven't broken through yet.
While you're held under the surface of primal emotions and unresolved karmas, when you're caught in the disowned feelings of your own characteristic blind spots, you have the ability to harness a soul force deep within, that will burst you through the pressure into a freedom that you previously lacked, because your self-knowledge was incomplete. You inhabited a partial existence, an illusion, in a world of people inhabiting their own illusions. In such a way the universe becomes our Zen master this month, knowingly cornering us with the pressure of our own unresolved issues, not for reasons of punishment, but as a prelude to enlightenment.”
