About the Retreat

Do you struggle to maintain a healthy body weight?

Are you confused by all the nutrition advice out there?

Would you like to develop or deepen your yoga practice?

Do you want to feel vibrant and full of energy on a daily basis?

Yes?  Then this retreat is for you…

In this retreat Arielle and Anthea will work with you both as a group and individuals on how to achieve healthy weight through yoga, diet and lifestyle.

Daily yoga, breath-work and meditation will bring you in touch with your own body and help you develop or strengthen an Ashtanga based self-practice.

Afternoon sessions will focus on discussion of healthy, sustainable approaches to weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight, according to your own body type, through diet, exercise and overall lifestyle. The focus will be on the Ayurvedic approach of recognizing everyone as an individual.

You will also get the opportunity to sample how fun fitness can be during led group sessions. You will learn what exercise is best for you and how to incorporate it into your daily life. You will also explore the basics of the Ayurvedic approach for eating and balanced living according to your own constitution.

About the Teacher

Arielle has been interested in human movement since she was a young competitive athlete, which led her

to pursue her  degree in Kinesiology. During a ten year career of training professional athletes and educating coaches; after years of competitive sports, she recognized the healing and balancing effects that a committed yoga practice created within her own body and mind. In 2005, Arielle completed the Centered Yoga Teacher Training, with Paul Dallaghan, where she was fortunate to be introduced to Sri O.P. Tiwari and the study of pranayama. Since then, she has attended several continuing education courses in Pranayama, Anatomy, Restorative Yoga and Pre & Post Natal. She is Centered Yoga’s Resident Anatomy educator and Wellness Director, specializing in teaching biomechanics, women’s anatomy, effective adjusting and exercise physiology.

Arielle is a proud Canadian, however her itchy feet have taken her to explore South America, Antarctica, Europe, Central America, South East Asia, India and China.

Arielle is a mother of twins, which keeps her busy, but she understands the positive impact that daily self-connection through practice has on being a parent. She teaches with humility and through movement, guides students toward a better understanding of their physicality.

As a yoga teacher and health coach Anthealoves to work with people in all aspects of yoga, nutrition and wellness.  Teaching and coaching came naturally to her, purely out of a desire to share what she was learning and the benefits yoga was bringing to her life. Anthea aims to apply the wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda to modern day life, to support people in making diet and lifestyle changes that will allow them to experience true health and vitality.

Anthea discovered Ashtanga Yoga in 2007 and never looked back. This led to her very first yoga retreat at the old Yoga Thailand center in 2008. Over time her practice has evolved to include pranayama in the Kaivalyadhama tradition, mantra, meditation and most recently Yin yoga. In 2010 Anthea completed Centered Yoga Teacher Training with Paul Dallaghan and returned regularly since then for Continuing Education Trainings such as Pranayama & Philosophy with Paul & Sri O.P. Tiwari and Female Anatomy with Arielle.

Immediately after teacher training Anthea began to teach yoga in her workplace, a corporate environment in Dublin, Ireland, where she is from, but soon branched out to yoga studios and outdoor community yoga. In 2012 she left the corporate world to immerse herself in yoga practices, nutrition studies and to gain more experience teaching yoga and Reiki. She spent almost two years between Bali, Thailand and India before joining the Samahita Retreat teaching team in 2013. Anthea is also the center’s Business Relationship Manager.

Arielle and Elonne’s adjustments and advice in the Mysore space were invaluable. The amount of time and energy they gave to adjustments and teaching during Mysore was incredible!”

~ Erica, Canada, 2014

Arielle is a fantastic anatomy teacher; students love her! Her presentations are organized and entertaining, and her experience and knowledge of yoga makes the teaching especially valuable.

∼ David Robson, Founder, Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto

Arielle has been one of my favourite yoga teachers for over 8 years in Canada and South East Asia. I am always humbled and impressed by her teaching style and growing knowledge. Her holistic approach is refreshing; integrating her in-depth knowledge in movement mechanics and years of experience as a yoga practitioner and teacher in a high level of spirit. Her love for yoga, sense of humor, and friendliness create a very enjoyable atmosphere to learn. She has helped me deepen my practice, and grow as a yoga teacher, with her on-going encouragement and support. My deepest gratitude to Arielle.

Anthea

It was the experience of a lifetime…I really enjoyed the classes. They were perfectly pitched. I particularly enjoyed the chanting and pranayama. It felt right. Really helped me to focus.

The afternoon sessions were great too, offering a little bit of personal development, self awareness and food advice. Perfect!

~ Deirdre, Ireland

Something incredibly positive and fulfilling about doing a yoga practice first thing in the morning with a view of the sea and knowing that a delicious, healthy breakfast was a short stroll away. Was amazed that two hours yoga a today could feel so normal, so quickly. Enjoyed every minute.

~ Carol, Ireland

I really enjoyed the yoga sessions..they way you teach is very constructive & careful. You managed to set a very calm environment. The discussions about living in a more holistic way including food & lifestyle were interesting & food for thought.

~ Patricia, Qatar

The retreat was an excellent chance to stop and think about things and to find out what my body and mind were lacking in. It is so easy to forget the importance of eating for health and sustenance. My eating habits have improved. I would definitely recommend the retreat, even if yoga is not something that you are involved in, the practice was easy to do. It helped my practice a lot and I get more from it as a result, I am more controlled and have stopped competing with myself, as you said, it is a practice for the rest of your life so there is not need to rush it or put yourself under pressure.

~ Shauna, Ireland

Overall experience of the retreat – a very positive and learning experience. I found out a lot about meditation and breathing as well as the yoga practice itself. Teaching – I felt the teaching style was very encouraging. Your patient tone and gentle touch a great help with our novice postures. Don’t change a thing!
