Fri Feb 15th 6.00pm – 9.00pm 'Using Mudra to move energy in dynamic yoga to achieve static meditation' (workshop 1)

Mudra (energy-control) in asana (posture) and vinyasa (movement): The mudras are a system of techniques and processes that involve asana, pranayama, kriya and dharana (mental control). In this workshop Simon will use an Ashtanga-based Yoga Synergy asana (posture) and vinyasa (movement) sequence to show you how to generate mudras within postures and how to approach classical mudras such as viparita karani mudra (headstand and other inversions) and san chalani mudra, which incorporates movement, breath-control and bandha.

Sat Feb 16th: 1.00pm – 4.00pm ‘Bandha in asana’ (Workshop 2)

Bandha (internal locks) in asana (posture) and vinyasa (movement).

On a physical level a bandha is the simultaneous tensing (coactivation) of opposing muscles around a joint complex. In this workshop Simon will use an Ashtanga-based Yoga Synergy asana and vinyasa sequence to show you how to use nine important bandhas within the body that help to stabilise the major joint complexes of your body while helping to control the flow of energy and information within you.

Sat Feb 16th 4.45pm – 7.45pm ‘ Inversions’. (workshop 3) Simon will guide you through and teach you how to access inversions for a more enhanced energy flow throughout the body, greater strength and improved alignment of the neck and spine. 

Sun Feb 17th: 1.00pm - 4.00pm ‘The secrets of mastering balancing postures.’ (workshop 4) Whether on one foot, hands, head or other, there are fundamental aspects involved anatomically to establish a balance as well as breath and dristi (gaze). Simon will share some of his decades of knowledge of how to balance on legs and arms in a way which enhances flexibility, strength, concentration and peace in mind. 

Sun Feb 17th : 4.45pm - 7.45pm ‘Dhyana and dynamic meditation (vinyasa)’ (workshop 5) Dhyana (meditation) in asana (posture) and vinyasa (movement): On a physiological level the meditative state is a hyper-alert state where there is invisible inaudible breathing and there are coherent synchronous brain wave patterns. In simple terms your mind feels completely focused, still and at peace). In this workshop Simon will use an Ashtanga-based Yoga Synergy asana and vinyasa sequence to show you how to move in a dynamic meditative state then transition to a static meditative state where the energy inside you is still moving.
