The Art and Beauty of Yoga- Weekend Workshop with Lucy Roberts
We are incredibly privileged to have the amazing Lucy Roberts visiting for a full weekend workshop. One of the most highly-regarded teachers in the asia-pacific region, she spends most of her time overseas running retreats and teacher training programs as well as spending time in South India with her own teacher.
As one of only two workshops she’ll be running in Australia this year, Lucy will be sharing her own beautiful mix of asana, pranayama, and meditation over 4 session; Saturday 10:30am-1pm and 2:30-5pm, and Sunday 11:30-2pm and 3:30-6pm. Morning sessions will focus more on asana, whilst afternoon sessions will focus more on practical application of meditation and yoga philosophy. In her own words:
Morning session – purely practical, and an invitation inwards to ‘taste’ the sweetness of Yoga through joyful, spacious experiencing.
Afternoon session – A little bit of theory to juice up the practice. Philosophy without abstract philosophising, instead simple tools and lively discussions to clarify what it is we are really doing when we embark on the path of Yoga.
10:30 – 1pm: Smooth, Fluid Vinyasa with pranayama and meditation
A smooth fluid practice of asana, pranayama and meditation, to open and celebrate the body, steady the mind, and soften the heart. From movement to stillness, we let the practices take us home to a place of rest inside ourselves. Asana practice will focus on hips and twists.
2:30 – 5:00pm: The Art of Meditation
Simple, accessible, theory and practice to de-mystify this precious art. Yogis are notorious for jumping around endlessly on their mats, and running around madly in the rest of their lives, while still remaining terrified of the simple, direct, and naked confrontation with oneself, that is meditation.
In this workshop we’ll get to know better the mechanism of mind, so that we might start to take ourselves a little less seriously, develop greater patience and compassion in be-friending both the shadows and light within, while opening to the possibility of living with much more joy, freedom, peace and love, irrespective of circumstance.
This session is accessible to both experienced meditators and total beginners to the practice.
11:30 – 2pm: Smooth Fluid Vinyasa with pranayama and meditation
Smooth, fluid and invigorating asana, pranayama and meditation. Asana practice will focus on the inverted postures, in both dynamic and restorative variations. Starting from the ground up, tricks and techniques for finding lightness, steadiness, and greater ease.
3:30 – 6:00pm: Lively Philosophy to sweeten the practice…
What are we really doing when we embark upon the path of Yoga… beyond making shapes on a mat? Far from abstract philosophising, this session will be lively and interactive, and practically presented to make the wisdom of the ancients relevant and useful to our lives today, so that our Yoga might start to touch, and transform, every corner and sphere of our lives. Everybody wants to be happy… and Yoga is a technology for making us so.
Whilst we strongly recommend attending the entire weekend($190), you can attend just the full Saturday or full Sunday program ($100) if required.
We cannot recommend this workshop highly enough; for any yoga practitioner looking to expand their practice on all levels, make sure you don’t miss this one.
