Description

Yogafest Retreat Somers continues! Come join us for 3 beautiful days and nights of yoga, meditation, workshops, relaxation, conversation and time in nature, staying right on the edge of the ocean at gorgeous Somers, on the Mornington Peninsula - 60 minutes from Melbourne CBD.

Yogafest Retreat is one of Australia's longest running events of its kind and welcomes students of all levels and experience - a truly open, community event.

Melbourne Cup Weekend: 2 - 5 November 2018

Each event has a specific theme which weaves in and out over the duration of the retreat, to support your practice, enhancing it beyond the mat.

Presented by Dance of Life: Centre for Yoga and Healing, Yogafest Retreat Somers brings together some of Melbourne’s most committed and experienced teachers. Each retreat is held at the Lord Somers Camp right on the edge of the sea on Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula, only 60 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.

Since its inception, Yogafest Retreat Somers has been run purely by volunteers, with all money raised going directly to the charitable humanitarian work of Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma).

Schedule / Itinerary

What you'll enjoy:

  • twice-daily yoga asana practices to appeal to students of all levels
  • highly experienced teachers who offer educative approaches to invite your yoga to grow, advance, explore and enhance
  • beautiful morning guided meditation at daybreak
  • relaxation practices including restorative yoga, yoga nidra and quiet guided walks in nature
  • discussions and group activities introducing philosophy and insights to feed into your yoga and daily life
  • onsite library for quiet learning and contemplation
  • sumptuous homecooked vegetarian meals and our very own onsite cafe and barista, selling coffees and other pleasures tucked amongst the trees
  • comfortable share-style accommodation in either small rooms or larger dorms, with the added option to camp on site
  • beautiful bush setting with the sea right on the doorstep to enjoy
  • a wonderfully welcoming and warm community, whether you're coming for the first time or as a seasoned retreater

Participants are asked to contribute a couple of hours of work (chopping vegetables, cleaning dishes, loading the dishwasher etc.) over the weekend, to help with the smooth running of the retreat. It’s our Karma Yoga as part of our yogic life, and it’s a wonderful way to give back to each other and to share the retreat experience.
