Description

Join us on Yoga Retreat in India. We’re going to Rajasthan, known as the jewel in India’s crown, and we’d love you to come too!

Our Retreat will be in Jaisalmer, on the edge of the Thar Desert, and Samode, outside of Jaipur and there’s pre and post retreat sightseeing expeditions too!

We’d love you to come for the whole 10 – day Retreat, or you could just come for the 7 – day portion.

From fairy-tale palaces and epic forts to colourful festivals and wildlife encounters, you’ll get to enjoy India at its vibrant best.

In Jaisalmer, for the desert citadel portion of our Retreat, we’ll be staying at Suryagarh, a 5-star boutique fort hotel – a destination in itself.

We’ll then be visiting Jaipur, famous for its forts, palaces, and old temples – every part of this walled-city’s worth exploring. Our stay will be at the Samode Palace, a 475-year-old palace that’s a celebration of the senses, think contemporary luxury and enchanting hospitality.

Your options for the India Retreat experience are to come for the pre-retreat sightseeing to the Taj Mahal, travel to the Desert Citadel Retreat in Jaisalmer for 3 days, then venture with us for our 7 day Palace Retreat in Jaipur and afterwards tour New Delhi for our post retreat sightseeing.

Or, join for just part of this great adventure: the full 10 days of Retreat to Suryagarh in Jaisalmer and Samode in Jaipur without the extra sightseeing options, or come for just one week for the Retreat at the Samode Palace.

Choose whether to add the pre-retreat sightseeing expedition to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal and/or the post-retreat sightseeing tour of New Delhi.

There’s pricing for each leg of the journey and three different choices of rooms – single, twin share or triple share.

Schedule / Itinerary

We start our adventure in Delhi. If you’re joining us for our pre-retreat sightseeing we travel together to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal – one of the seven wonders of the world, and the most extravagant monument ever built for love.

Then back to Delhi to officially begin our Yoga Retreat, we fly into the desert together to stay at Suryagarh in Jaisalmer. This 5 star boutique fort hotel  – Suryagarh represents a unique way of life, carefully preserving the traditions of the past. Until very recently, this magical area’s been inaccessible by air, keeping it untouched, so we’ll have the sense of the path less travelled and get to discover secrets of a land that’s been long shrouded in myth and legend.

Jaisalmer – This Desert Citadel epitomizes the lonely, awesome beauty of Rajasthan. Known as the “Golden City,” it’s perched atop a hill, surrounded by miles of soft, fine, gleaming sand.

This incomparably romantic desert fortress is straight out of Tales of the Arabian Nights. Because of its strategic location en route between India and Central Asia, Jaisalmer was once a very wealthy place. The merchants and townspeople built magnificent houses and mansions all exquisitely carved from wood and sandstone.

Post Retreat New Delhi Sightseeing: March 21 – March 23

Delhi

The British created their own Delhi with large well planned avenues and planted 10,000 trees with a 112 kms of hedges so that it would be green round the year abundant with flowers – a botanical paradise. The seat of the British Empire, Delhi of 1911 was planned to resemble ‘an Englishman dressed for the climate’. Its planners and main architects decided that it would be neither Hindu, nor Muslim, nor Buddhist, nor English nor Roman but IMPERIAL a house for the Viceroy that resembled a “giant Indian bungalow, embattled Rajput fortress and Mughal tomb with shades of Buckingham Palace with English country house comforts”.

Delhi is perhaps the only city in the world that fuses its past, present and evokes its future without losing an iota of its identity. 1300 monuments speak of her antiquity, of the ambitions of men who thought they could hold on to her but history proved otherwise. A popular superstition is that it’s also known as the ‘graveyard of dynasties’ with every one of its cities built there heralding the death the dynasty that built it.

Thus, Delhi is a Melting Pot of cultures, politics and religions of India’s colorful past in its monuments, its palaces, and in the faces of its people that themselves narrate the story of their glorious past.

Your stay for the post retreat sight-seeing will at be Le Meridien in New Delhi. Over the last three decades, Le Meridien New Delhi has transformed itself into a masterpiece. The 5-star hotel combines world-class architecture, cuisine, design and fashion. Located in the heart of the city, the iconic glass building of Le Meridien New Delhi has been recognized as one of the 100 Icons of Delhi. The hotel is readily accessible to city’s important facilities and institutions. The glass building is surrounded by ministries, government institutions, Media Centre and historical monuments. The shopping hubs Connaught Place and Janpath Market are within walking distance from the hotel.
