Description

Ethics of being a Yogi : concepts and misconceptions surrounding this topic

In this workshop  Magdi will examine and challenge the concepts and the misconceptions surrounding the life of a Yogic student and teacher and also look at the Ethics and moral in a Yoga Teacher - Student Relationship.

What is a Yogi?
How should a Yogi behave? Talk? Live?
What does it mean to live a Yogic life?
Can a Yogi/ Yogini have a drink and still be considered a yogi?
Can a Yogi / Yogini be good\or bad?

In a teaching environment many challenging and confronting situations can and will arise. Some may trigger us more than others and feelings like anger, sadness, impatience, frustration, sexual attraction, may arise within us or our students.
During this workshop we will discuss common situations and dynamics and look at techniques and tools to handle these scenarios and emotions in a professional and constructive manner.

By understanding and becoming aware of our personal point of view and reactions, we can develop grounded and professional answers, even in the most challenging situations.

Some of the topics we will discuss include:
1. What and Who is a Yogi / Yogini?
2. Your own thoughts, fears or concerns
3. A student cries during or after class
4. A sexual attraction between student and teacher
5. A student refuses to follow the teachers instructions
6. A student disturbs the rest of the class
