In addition to teaching asana or poses, yoga teachers cultivate a space that enriches the lives of their students with yogic philosophy and mindfulness. The language used, the weaving of intention, mudra, pranayama, music or sound, meditation and story can have a profound impact on students beyond the yoga mat. A good understanding of anatomy, scaffolded sequencing and exploration of pace—moving between relative stillness and flow—can all enhance and shape yoga classes to keep your moment-to-moment sharing fresh and emergent.
