Introduction to Meditation

Sundays:  22nd April- 27 May 

7pm - 8pm

$110 for full course (6 weekly classes)  /  $95 Santosha members, 6 & 12 month pass holders & concession.

As the array of different approaches to Meditation is vaster than the seas, we run two very different styles of Intro to Meditation course, to allow you to find what best suits you - doing both may well serve you wonderfully!  They are each 6 week courses designed for those completely new to meditation. Both courses explore simple yet profound approaches to the practice, with a gentle, passionate approach - so that you can play with a small amount each day, feel for yourself the shifts in your personal experience of day to day life, and fall in love with meditation.

Delight in the River


A 6 week course to introduce you to the practice of Meditation. We explore simple yet potent approaches to the practice - so that you can do a small amount each day, and feel for yourself the shifts in your personal perceptions and experiences, as you go about this incredible life. 


The simple techniques you will learn can be applied in sitting/lying meditation, and their influence (and in some cases, the technique itself) will seep into your day-to-day relationships, work, and inner experience, making life a little more easeful, a little more open, and endlessly more fulfilling.


You will begin to learn how to let the river of your mind flow easefully - without getting stuck in the shallower waters.  Over time, you will learn how to greet, and dive beneath, the logs that look like they’re blocking the way entirely.  You’ll learn how to trust yourself to be able to soften into the waterfalls as they appear, to find yourself falling courageously, taken into the pool at the base, to reappear floating and grinning, washed in your own authenticity and the immense wonder of the rainforest.

You will be introduced to the techniques and experience of several styles and aspects of meditation:

- Mindfulness Meditation (of the Buddhist tradition) 
- Yoga Nidra (Conscious Sleep - Yogic tradition)
- Metta Meditation (Loving Kindness - Buddhist tradition) 
- Chakra Meditation (Yogic tradition)
- Chanting Meditation (Yogic tradition)
- And of course, Chocolate Meditation. :)

We explore fundamentals, like using props to find a comfortable seat, as well as looking at aspects such as sankalpa (intention), and practising dedications.
 

While a vastly practical course, you will also understand how and why it works in the brain - it's incredible!
