Lift Off!

Arm Balance Workshop

With Kula Yoga teacher Emily Thomas

Master your ability to float.

Take your practice to the next level and take flight.

This workshop will:

  • Help you master and refine your arm balances and spring backs in detail taking time not afforded in regular classes
  • Experiment with some of the lesser taught arm balances with detailed, step-by-step instruction.
  • Teach you how arm balances aren't just about strength, but also relate to weight distribution, correct core activation, hip opening and spinal mobility.

You will walk away from this workshop with a better understanding of the mechanics and leverage of arm-balances as opposed to using force, and with the tools to make these inspiring, courageous poses a playful part of your practice.

This workshop is definitely for you if:

  • Arm balances are part of the yoga practice that inspire you, whether they be in your repertoire already or not!
  • You feel there might be something missing to achieve ease in your arm balances, or are even struggling to lift off into crow at all.
  • You like to PLAY and give things a go!

When: Saturday February 22, 2-4 pm

Where: Kula Hawthorn

Investment: $50 (Kula Tribe $40)

About the instructor: Emily is a teacher who never came from an athletic background before starting yoga. She has embodied all levels of yoga experience; she knows how tricky and even scary that first crow can be, but also how satisfying that glorious, precarious hover in grasshopper is. She loves to teach by giving detailed, step-by-step instruction in a workshop environment on poses that usually seem overwhelming or are skimmed over in classes, and nurturing her students as individuals. She takes great pleasure in watching her students discover the rewards of yoga and surprise themselves with what they are capable of.
