Description

The course offers an introduction to the basic techniques and concepts of meditation giving students the tools to develop their own meaningful meditation practice. In this course you will:

• Discuss the practical techniques of meditation

• Practice these techniques through guided meditation

• Explore mindfulness and how it can cultivate healthy feelings and mind states

• Learn spot meditations to de-stress quickly and calm yourself throughout the day

• Ask questions and explore meditation philosophy and ideas during class

 

When: Four Consecutive Saturdays 16th June - 7th July 2012

Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Lesley Gough

Has a background in Social Work where she worked with children with disabilities and their families. Lesley was drawn to the practices of yoga and meditation through her personal struggle with back problems eventually leaving her 9-5 job and pursuing her passion for teaching this ancient practice.

Lesley teaches to all abilities with ease and through her deep understanding of the practice assists students to achieve their yoga potential. Her own struggles with back problems make her an extremely empathetic and gifted teacher for those students with injuries or special needs.

Lesley is certified as a Yoga teacher and has also completed teacher training for Meditation and Kids Yoga. She continues to develop her own understanding of yoga through weekly classes, daily home practice, regular meditation retreats and workshops. She strongly believes that to teach yoga and meditation meaningfully and with sincerity to others she must continue to develop herself through practice.
