In conjunction with her Yoga Therapy studies in Australia and Chennai, Yvonne conducted a research study: “The Effects of an Individual Yoga Practice on the Quality of Life for people living with Multiple Sclerosis”.
In 2010 The Midwest Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre commissioned Yvonne to conduct Yoga Therapy consultations for people living with MS in rural areas of Western Australia. This presentation is about her experience as a Yoga Therapist and researcher in the context of improving the quality of life for people living with MS.
Yvonne Henderson - Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist
Yvonne has been a Yoga practitioner for over 30 years and her journey studying with the Desikachar Family in 2000. She was accredited as a Yoga Teacher in the tradition of Sri Krishnamacharya in 2006 and as a Yoga Therapist in 2013. Yvonne is a registered Yoga Therapist with the Australian Association of Yoga Therapy and senior member of Yoga Australia. Yvonne is the founder of “Sattva Yoga Ksetram” in Perth where her primary focus is on Yoga Therapy.
Dr Kathryn O'Connor - General Medical Practitioner
Dr Kathryn O’Connor lives and has a Practice in Castlemaine in Central Victoria. She has a special interest in mental health, adolescent health and mind-body medicine and she teaches mindfulness and communication skills to medical students at the local hospital.
She has been practicing yoga and meditation for ten years and has a special interest in health / illness models from different traditions, particularly Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda.
