Expression of interest: for this series of 5 classes in Term 4

Agama Yoga Centre offers yoga classes to suit the needs of a diverse range of body types and class styles. We'd like to offer students this stronger option of yoga practice in our tradition.

This series will focus on side bends.

Side bends build strength and stability in the muscles of the back, chest and the shoulders and pelvis. They help to balance asymmetries of the spine, shoulders and pelvis and stimulate the internal organs. We rarely bend and stretch laterally in our everyday activities, so focussing on this type of movement in our yoga practice is very beneficial. You will clear away those cobwebs!

In this 5-week series, we will cover a range of side bends as the focus of our practice, from standing postures, to kneeling and seated postures, and lying postures, gradually moving to deeper and stronger side bends.

The practices will also cover the other classifications of postures as needed to prepare the body for the goal postures.
