Yoga Training: Full Scholarship Contest

May 18—SchoolYoga Institute announced today that they are offering a Full-Scholarship to any one of their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses that are offered around the world. The full scholarship will be given to the winner of a video contest on Facebook, where applicants will post a video to the SchoolYoga facebook page saying why they deserve a full-scholarship to one of SchoolYoga’s 200-hour yoga teacher trainings.

The contest starts today and will end July 31st. Yoga enthusiasts of all ages, backgrounds and levels of ability are encouraged to apply and to then share their video applications with their friends. SchoolYoga will choose from the top three videos with the most “likes”. The winner will receive a full scholarship to the SchoolYoga Teacher Training of their choice.

SchoolYoga trainings are approved by Yoga Alliance and are registered at the RYS-200 hour level. SchoolYoga offers programs in 8 countries around the world. Graduates are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as RYT-200 after successful completion of the yoga certification.

SchoolYoga Institute has been offering professional level yoga teacher trainings since 2002 and the scholarship program has been an important part of their mission of sharing yoga with people around the world. In recent years they have given out approximately $20,000 in scholarships annually.

This new Full-Scholarship program was born from SchoolYoga Institute’s Free Yoga Teacher Training held in April 2012 at the Mystical Yoga Farm in Guatemala. This 200-hour training was Free for 15 applicants who were chosen based on video applications and essay questions. SchoolYoga then decided to continue the process of offering full scholarship through this new scholarship contest.

The ongoing scholarship programs are one of the many ways that SchoolYoga Institute is able to give back to the communes that it works in. Other projects include; working with JUSTA (Justice Unity Supporting Trade Artisans) a Guatemalan woman’s collective, to provide nutrition education for indigenous women around Lake Atitlan; working with G-22, an environmental education organization in Guatemala, to provide clean water and forestry education in Guatemala; and providing tsunami relief for the 2010 tsunami in Samoa.

SchoolYoga Institute is dedicated to providing quality yoga programs and to serving its community. As they continue to grow, they expect to expand their seva (giving) projects as well.
