About the Retreat
This course is appropriate for expectant mothers, personal trainers, yoga teachers, midwives, doulas and birth coaches. The content of this course is drawn both from scientific knowledge and the personal experiences of pregnant yoga practitioners.
Whether it’s the first time or the fifth time, the relationship between mother and baby begins long before birth. Yoga can play an integral role in the quality of this relationship as mom connects with baby and takes care of her body and mind through practice.
Teaching pregnant women is delicate and must be approached with the proper knowledge and confidence to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Post partum women need to be guided back into practice with key exercises that assist in re-building strength, balance and stability while getting reacquainted with their post baby body.
This course will outline a woman’s journey from preconception to 1 year after childbirth.
Topics include: Preparing for pregnancy
The Anatomy & physiology of a woman’s body during pregnancy
The Pregnancy Journey
Trimester Specific Practice Considerations:
Yoga and the High Risk Pregnancy
Assisting an Expectant Mother in Preparing for Childbirth
The 4th Trimester
The Ethics of Teaching Pregnant Women
You will leave confident in your ability to teach basic level prenatal classes and adapt a Vinyasa practice for an experienced practitioner.
Arielle has been interested in human movement since she was a competitive teenage athlete, which led her to pursue her degree in Kinesiology. During a career of training professional athletes and educating coaches; after years of competitive sports, she recognized the healing and balancing effects that a committed yoga practice created within her own body.
In 2005, Arielle completed the Centered Yoga Teacher Training, with Paul Dallaghan, where she was fortunate to be introduced to Sri O.P. Tiwari and the study of pranayama. Since then, she has attended several continuing education courses in Pranayama, Anatomy, Restorative Yoga and Pre & Post Natal. She is Centered Yoga’s Resident Anatomy educator and specializes in teaching biomechanics, women’s anatomy and effective adjusting.
Arielle believes that yoga is a gift to pregnant women, allowing them a special opportunity to connect with their baby and their body. During her pregnancy with twins, Arielle maintained a daily yoga practice until the day they were born. Mothering twins keeps her busy, but she understands the positive impact that daily self-connection through practice has on being a parent. She teaches with humility and through movement, guides students toward a better understanding of their physicality.

Arielle has been one of my favourite yoga teachers for over 8 years in Canada and South East Asia. I am always humbled and impressed by her teaching style and growing knowledge. Her holistic approach is refreshing; integrating her in-depth knowledge in movement mechanics and years of experience as a yoga practitioner and teacher in a high level of spirit. Her love for yoga, sense of humor, and friendliness create a very enjoyable atmosphere to learn. She has helped me deepen my practice, and grow as a yoga teacher, with her on-going encouragement and support. My deepest gratitude to Arielle.
