Description

Laketopia is a 3 day utopian gathering, combining the nourishment of a retreat with the freedom and joy of a festival. Camping on a private property on the shores of Wallis Lake, our intimate community of 100 free spirits will co-create a magical experience of connection, play and the awakening of our human potential.

THE 3 DAY EXPERIENCE

Laketopia is inspired by the immersive and participatory ethos of Burning Man with each guest being initiated into a particular Laketopian Clan for the weekend to share, contribute, play and connect. The festival offers a dynamic blend of interactive art, engaging workshops, musical performance, yoga, dance and ritual, culminating on Saturday night with The Sangha, a vibrant celebration and fire ceremony uniting the Clans and Tribe.

You will learn life enriching skills in permaculture, mindfulness, energy work and creative self expression. Well beyond a weekend of activities, this is an essential detox from digital distraction and an incubator for the most magnificent resolutions possible, elevating you refreshed and rejuvenated into the new year with the support of the community.

SOUL FOOD by Bondi's

                                                                                             kitchen

Our mind, body and soul will be nourished by the inspiring cuisine of Bondi’s ‘Sadhana Kitchen’ with renown chef and acclaimed author of The Naked Vegan, Maz Valcorza at the helm. Our delicious, healthy and substantial vegan meals will be served in our Banquet Hall and outdoor gardens for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

LOCATION

Set on a 10 acre private lakefront peninsula property with abundant permaculture gardens, we are just 3.5 hrs drive North of Sydney and 15 mins drive from pristine National Park beaches.

VISION

Our collective vision is to foster unity and a deep sense of belonging by creating a communal experience which nurtures authentic heart connections, awakens creativity and supports confident self expression. We envisage this experience will inspire all guests to weave the gifts of their Laketopia experience into their everyday lives and communities back at home.

PRINCIPLES

We adopt the principles of tribal unity, sharing and contributionism to achieve our vision.

COSTUMES

Embracing the Burning Man principle of radical self expression we encourage you to wear what your heart desires to express the true you. Clans will create costumes from supplied forest foliage to wear at the Sangha Celebration.

SANGHA CELEBRATION

Sangha is Sanskrit for Community, which is the heart of Laketopia. From the moment you arrive at Laketopia, the energy of our supportive tribe will welcome you, removing separation and creating authentic connection. The entire retreat experience will build up to our Saturday night Sangha Celebration, where all the Clans come together as one Tribe, dancing, feasting and partying in full forest foliage regalia.

OUR TRIBE

Our collective tribe will be a union of four clans: Earth, Water, Air and Fire, each with their own camping ground and key creative roles to build the collective experience. Upon entering the gates of Laketopia you are instructed to leave all judgement, comparison, and criticism at the gate, this is especially true for the biggest critic of all, your own mind.

EARTH CLAN will tend the permaculture gardens. (children friendly) Hosted by David, Kate &                                      My Organic School.

FIRE CLAN      will build the fire effigy. Hosted by Hayley Melrose and The Kundi Club.

WATER CLAN will decorate the banquet hall and oversea Lakeside festivities. Hosted by Rire,                                     Franko & Rache. Rainbow Tribe & Yoga Rhythms.

AIR CLAN        is for staff and volunteers.

YOUR LAKETOPIAN NAME

You are invited to adopt a Laketopian name for the experience, something that represents your inner magician, lover, goddess, warrior, legend and most playful version of who you are.

UNDERSTANDINGS

This is a drug and alcohol free event, all stimulation will be provided by Mother Nature, the elements, herbal elixirs, nourishing vegetarian food, music, breath, life… you get the picture.

THE 10 PRINCIPLES OF BURNING MAN to be adopted at LAKETOPIA.

Both of Laketopia's founders have been profoundly effected by their Burning man festival experiences. Rache Moore went so far as to found a Burning Man camp back in 2011. We pay our respects to the Burning Man community by adopting their 10 principles at Laketopia.

Radical Inclusion

Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.

Gifting

Burning Man is devoted to acts of gift giving. The value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not contemplate a return or an exchange for something of equal value.

Decommodification
In order to preserve the spirit of gifting, our community seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. We stand ready to protect our culture from such exploitation. We resist the substitution of consumption for participatory experience.

Radical Self-reliance

Burning Man encourages the individual to discover, exercise and rely on his or her inner resources.

Radical Self-expression

Radical self-expression arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others. In this spirit, the giver should respect the rights and liberties of the recipient.

Communal Effort

Our community values creative cooperation and collaboration. We strive to produce, promote and protect social networks, public spaces, works of art, and methods of communication that support such interaction.

Civic Responsibility

We value civil society. Community members who organize events should assume responsibility for public welfare and endeavor to communicate civic responsibilities to participants. They must also assume responsibility for conducting events in accordance with local, state and federal laws.

Leaving No Trace

Our community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them.

Participation

Our community is committed to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change, whether in the individual or in society, can occur only through the medium of deeply personal participation. We achieve being through doing. Everyone is invited to work. Everyone is invited to play. We make the world real through actions that open the heart.

Immediacy

Immediate experience is, in many ways, the most important touchstone of value in our culture. We seek to overcome barriers that stand between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world exceeding human powers. No idea can substitute for this experience.
