Come and Join our Greece Yoga Teacher Training Course (YTTC) in Santorini, Thira or Kalliste, some of the names the contender for the lost Atlantis (described by Plato) is known by.

The poem, Argonautica, written in the 3rd century BC, tells of Thira being given to Poseidon’s son Euphemeus in the form of a clod of dirt. After carrying the dirt next to his heart for several days, Euphemeus dreamed that he nursed the dirt with his own milk and that it metamorphosed into a beautiful woman with whom he made love. Triton’s daughter, Kalliste (another name for Santorini) told him if he threw the dirt into the sea it would grow into a crescent shaped island for his descendants to live on.

To this day, Santorini, in the Greek Cyclades, is saturated in beauty, mythology and culture. A crescent that remained after a volcanic eruption in the Minoan era, said to have destroyed the civilisation it is made up of layered cliffs, red, black and white beaches and sculpted pumice  precipices formed around an almost bottomless caldera.  The archeological dig of Akrotiri, a Minoan village freeze-framed by the molten lava along with some beautiful frescoes is due to re-open this year to visitors.

Our course will take place in a small traditional village called Oia on Santorini’s northern tip. A scenic spot, with cave houses dug into the rock and traditional cubic white-washed Cycladic architecture where local tavernas serve home-made food.

Learn lots more about the history and beauty of Santorini.

October is the perfect month… the majority of tourist have gone home, the days are still steeped in late summer sun, the sunsets are more interesting and streets more peaceful. Swimming is still wonderful and walking in the paths that pass between the fields more pleasant than during hot summer days.

Transportation and Travel Advices:

You can reach Santorini from Athens by plane with Agean (http://el.aegeanair.com ) in about forty minutes (quoting less than 50 Euros each way now but likely to double the later you leave booking). Only taxis leave from the airport to Oia. Or in seven or so hours by boat from Pireus with Blue Star lines (http://paleologos.forth-crs.gr ) (Piraeus to Thira) for about 40 Euros each way. (1 Euro is roughly 1.4 Dollars.) From the port a bus will take you up to the main town of Fira and another from Fira to the village of Oia.

Packing Suggestions for the Greece Yoga Instructor Certification
