An 8 week course exploring the fundamental principles of Vinyasa Yoga.
Suitable for complete beginners, those who have been off their mats for a while, and current yoga practitioners looking for a more dynamic style of practice.
Vinyasa yoga is an energizing, dynamic and flowing physical practice. Students are guided through intelligently linked sequences of postures, which place equal emphasis on stretch and strength. This style of yoga helps to open areas of tightness in the body as well as strengthen those areas that are weak, bringing about a state of balance and equilibrium.
This sense of 'balance' is also manifested emotionally, as vinyasa works as a 'moving meditation'. Breath is emphasized, and with practice the breath becomes an anchor for ones awareness and concentration. The breath is synchronized with both the postures and the transitions between them, resulting in a deep connectivity between body and mind. Students will feel balanced, calm, and deeply restored at the completion of a vinyasa yoga class.
If you are looking to deepen your mind body connection, wake up the innate intelligence of the body, stretch and strengthen, and create space for rest and relaxation, this course if for you.
(Please note that vinyasa yoga is an active and physically demanding style of yoga. It is not suitable if you are pregnant, very ill or injured, or in poor physical condition.)
Monday evenings, 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. Oct 12 - Nov 30.
