IYTA Diploma of Pre and Post Natal Yoga Teaching

Developed and taught by a Faculty of Senior IYTA teachers, who between them have expertise in midwifery, nursing, pre and post natal yoga, counseling, hypno birthing, calm birthing, infant massage and reviewed by a physiotherapist and chiropractor, with obstetric advice.

This Course is delivered over four weekend modules, with home-based study and on-line tutorials.  It is suitable to those wishing to develop a specialist Pre and Post Natal Class or to integrate pregnant women into a general yoga class.

THE CURRICULUM – 130 hours

·        Module One – Foundation – including energy systems affecting the pregnant woman; core stability and the fundamentals of pregnancy

·        Module Two – Safety – including safety precautions, modifying a general class for the pre and post natal student; Anatomy and Physiology in relation to the pregnant woman, birth and post natal

·        Module Three – Birth – Applied Yoga Techniques to assist with labour and birth; Vocal Toning; active birth; optimal foetal positioning; partner support

·        Module Four – Post Natal – Care for new mothers (physical, emotional, spiritual), self care, Mum’s & Bubs class

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

·        How to teach women to Prepare for active birth using applied yoga techniques

·        How to develop and deliver a Pre Natal Yoga class considering the three trimesters

·        How to integrate Pre and Post Natal a general class

·        Yoga Foundation – in relation to Pregnancy

·        Anatomy and Physiology – in relation to the pregnant woman and birth and Class Planning

·        Safety Precautions

·        Safe Asana sequences and modifications in general class

·        Vocal Toning, active birth and optimal foetal positioning

·        Post Natal care for new mothers
