Do you or your yoga students have asana ambitions? Asana ambitions could include practicing some of the more knotty, bendy, twisty asana, holding balancing asana for longer or practicing some of the stronger inverted asana. If so, then this course is for you. During this weekend stronger asana will be explored from the perspectives of:
· Why you want to practice stronger asana
· Required strength and flexibility
· How to prepare
· Benefits and risks of the practices
· Precautions and contraindications
· Different body types /ages /proportions and associated risks / limitations /advantages
For this exploration, join Karmayogini, experienced asana practitioner and teacher with a background in physiotherapy. At 60, Karmayogini still enjoys the physical challenge and other benefits of stronger asana practice and also finds that the perspective gained over many years of practicing and teaching asana has given her a more balanced approach to asana practice generally.
Practices taught over the weekend are taken from the most well known of the Satyananda Yoga texts:Asana, Pranayama, Mudra & Bandha by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
All graduates of YS4, 2013 are invited to attend this retreat at a cost of $108.
This course is for experienced yoga teachers and students who have been practising asana for at least three years and who wish to expand and advance their asana practice. Stronger, more advanced asana not covered in the current Yogic Studies curriculum will be explored.
