"Good and virtuous company gives rise to non-attachment."

Satsang means keeping the company of the holy, the like-minded and those who are identified with the truth. Basically, Jivamukti Yoga is comprised of Bhakti (devotional), Karma (selfless service), Raja (ashtanga) and Jnana (intellect) yoga, and Satsang, in essence, is the spiritual heart and soul of Jivamukti Yoga. Kirtan, which means "people coming together to be in the presence of God," includes Sanskit chanting, meditation, or a discussion. At Jivmaukti Yoga Sydney we are very blessed to have guest teachers from all over the globe joining us for this very special evening.

Jeffrey Cohen

Jeffrey is an ambassador of yoga presenting classes, retreats, & workshops around the globe. Jeffrey serves as an acting Facilitator and formerly Lead Mentor for the residential Jivamukti Yoga® Teacher Training Program and is also a member of the Omega Institute and Kripalu guest teaching faculty. Video and radio projects include collaborations with Russell Simmons and Martha Stewart.

Jeffrey is known for his rawness, humor, warmth, relevance, and candor. His classes are textured with a perfect blend of sonic vibrations, rigor, and hands-on assists.

Andrea Boyd

Andrea taught in New York City, before moving to Charleston to open the only Jivamukti Yoga school in the United States outside of NYC with her husband Jeffrey. She is an Advanced Certified teacher, has been a Mentor and Lead Mentor at the renowned Jivamukti Teacher Training and is a faculty member of Kripalu and Omega Institute. She has appeared in many local and international publications, and teaches all over the world. With Ruth Lauer-Manenti, Andrea edited and produced the books “An Offering of Leaves” and "Sweeping the Dust", published by Lantern Books, and is currently working on the third. Often described as an earnest and compassionate teacher, her classes are disciplined, musical, challenging, fun and creative, with strong messages grounded in scripture. You will feel inspired to be kind.

Jules Febre

Jules Febre was born and raised in a section of New York City known as the Lower East Side. He grew up in the L.E.S. during a very rough period surrounded by violence, drugs and a general atmosphere of anger. At the age of 13, Jules spent three months in India; two of which were spent in Mysore studying Ashtanga Yoga with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. During that time he was invited to share satsang with SwamiNirmalananda and Shyam Das, two radical yogis that have each helped to add to the progression of yoga in the West. At the age of 16 Jules began working at the Jivamukti Yoga School helping to clean, by 21 had become the general manager of two Jivamukti Yoga Schools and eventually became the C.O.O of Jivamukti Inc. in New York City.

Katie Manitsas

Katie is a co-director of Jivamukti Yoga Sydney (formerly Samadhi Yoga). Katie is the first certified Advanced Jivamukti Yoga teacher in Australia and has also studied extensively with the Wise Earth School of Ayurveda under the guidance of Swamini Mayatitananda, as well as being a qualified Kundalini Yoga teacher. Katie grew up in the English countryside surrounded by nature and animals and at the age of ten became a vegetarian; today she is a vegan and along with her business partners opened Earth Vegan Café in Sydney in 2010. Katie's first yoga teacher, who has now left his body, was an elderly gentleman from the Bahamas who taught classes in the local community centre of the village where she lived. She started attending those classes at twelve years of age and has been doing the best she can to practice yoga ever since. Simon Low from Triyoga was the teacher who encouraged Katie to begin teaching. Katie’s previous books are 'Spiritual Survival in the City' and the more recent ‘Yoga Off the Mat’. Katie is mother to four-year-old Christos who sometimes likes to practice yoga but sometimes prefers to ‘fix cars’ with his Dad who is a mechanic. She is also mother to little Ziggy who was born at home. Katie is a trained doula (birth companion) and is currently studying the Montessori education method for pre-schoolers.
