THE HATHA YOGA PRADIPIKA
The Hatha Yoga Pradipika is a medieval text from India, compiled by a spiritual scientist called Swatmarama. It is an instruction manual divided into four chapters that offers practical guidance on how to attain the state the state of Yoga (happiness, bliss & ecstasy). It contains the first written record of asanas, but also teaches shatkarma (cleansing practices), pranayama (breathing practices), mudra (hand gestures), bandha (energetic locks), meditation & nada yoga (hearing divine music).
