Deepen your practice through breath, chanting and gratitude January 24 – 31, 2015 with Sara Granström Thorsson
organised by Samahita Retreat
organised by Samahita Retreat
For
most people the first meeting with yoga is usually a physical
experience, something we move towards through our bodies. However, the
traditional goal of yoga has for thousands of years been to increase
people’s ability to be more present in the world through the help of a
calmer mind.
To practice yoga is to observe ourselves as we are in a given moment
without demands or expectations. It’s described in the yogic texts that
even though consistency and regularity are important for the
understanding of yoga, how we approach the different techniques on the
mat will be equally important.
During this retreat we will use a great mix of yogic practices to
support the process of directing our attention towards the inside rather
then the outside.
The daily asana practice will be based on the Ashtangyoga Vinyasa
system with focus on technique and attitude rather then completing as
many poses as possible. We will use the wonders of traditional
breathwork known as ”pranayama” as well as chanting and meditation to
create a good and positive environment for the different kinds of
challenges that comes up on the mat.
During the afternoon sessions we will explore the yogic philosophy
and discuss the practice in detail, all to make the teaching as helpful
and as individual as possible.
This retreat is open to all levels of practitioners.
